Are you truly maximizing your site's SEO potential?

Hi everyone, so today I want to cover something huge that I notice many of you are NOT doing correctly and that is actually targeting keywords.

I find a lot of people like to blog about their personal life and experiences, and this is actually totally fine to do, but the problem is, when I look at their titles and I see something like:

"My day today"

"Today was an awesome day"

"Flowers are good"

Or something really personal or random, guess what's missing? An actual keyword.

If you are following the training in WA, and I ALWAYS elude to you doing this, and you passed level 2 of training, you'll know how important it is to target keywords. Here is that training just in case:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/building-...

Without having them in your title, you are essentially doing a lot of work and not maximizing the SEO potential behind it.

Now understand this: Whatever content you put up on your site WILL help your overall site's SEO improve, but you will cut down the work substantially, if ALL of your posts and pages target a specific keyword that has to do with your niche.

So allow me to share an example of this:

Let's say you run some sort of weight loss blog. Actually let's make it more niche specific: Burning away belly fat.

Let's say you have a personal case study on something you've been doing for a long period of time where that has helped you drop belly fat and you want to share on your site this report.

Now let's say this case study spans for 3 months. Now you can actually take this experience and write a whole bunch of content on it. Things like weekly reports, a personal journal where you share how you're doing. That's fine.

But what would sound better...

If you titled your weekly reports like:

"My weight loss report week 1"

"My weight loss report week 2".

Ect...

OR...

"The Best Way to Drop Belly Fat. 1 Week Report".

"How to Burn Away a Pound of Fat Everyday" (Second week report)

"7 Pounds Gone in 1 Week" (Third week report).

Ect...

EACH of these reports TARGETS it's own keyword that is associated to your niche. Look up those keywords on Jaaxy, they get traffic and in each report, you're still connecting it with your personal weight loss journey, BUT you're maximizing the SEO of it by ALWAYS targeting a different keyword.

Now you may ask, why not just use the same keyword for each report? That would not be good because you'd still rank for the same thing, but with this approach, you're going to REALLY crack down on a lot of awesome keywords out there that your blog could associate with and help your site rank faster and more so on different keywords.

Think about this...you are basically not just getting more content ideas, but you're squeezing out so much more potential with this approach.

In my example, connect each week of your progress to the keyword. If you are on a belly fat diet, talk about how it works in week 1, in week 2, explain how you've been burning away a pound of fat everyday on this diet you're on. In week 3, explain how you've lost 7 pounds on the diet you're progressing on.

Obviously, each new post should have it's own new content, but you should mention (And link to corresponding weeks within your content) but if you're doing some sort of blog journal that has to do with your niche, connect it with keywords EVERY TIME you want to talk about it and you're really going to speed things up, by a lot.

Cheers!

Additional tips:

Use site comments on your blog posts, especially on those which have high traffic keywords.

Use images and title the images with your keyword.

very good reminder

Thanks for making me understand the purpose of keywords and how the affect the site traffic.

Well said Vitaliy. I've noticed a lot of newbies doing this as well. I'm not sure why they're missing this in the training but it's so key to driving traffic. So I'm glad you wrote this.

Thanks Eddy :)

Great post and a much needed reminder.

Great! Thanks!

Great lead. Thank you.

Great follow-up to our yesterday's conversation! Now with the example that you've given to me, it's so much easier to understand what you meant.

I am thinking that in my niche website, with the journal I could have the monthly reports if anything so that there is more content to share and not just 500 words or something.

That is definitely something to think about. Once again thanks for the awesome info!!!

No problem, glad it helped!

Definitely something I need to focus on more. Thanks for posting this.

You'll really speed things up this way Craig!

I hope so. I am tired of my near-complete lack of traffic. Lol
