Google has released something brand new to the market.

Social media sites love to do that.

Just when everything seems to be getting organized.

BAM

Something new.

This time it is Google Plus Collections.

What Are Google Plus Collections?

Well, they aren’t some type of billing force that is now going to charge you for all your usage of their search engine. Yes, you forgot to read the small print.

Fortunately, you can take a sigh of relief on that note.

For the Affiliate Marketer Google Collections are cool.

It is a place where you can organize all your posts about a given category within the social media platform of Google.

I can’t help but think that this is going to have a positive effect on the results of those who use it.

Creating Your Own Google Collection

To get started, it seems straight forward.

Log into your Google profile and select the option for new collection that says “create a collection”

You’ll be taken to a screen that allows you to adjust three options.

  • 1 Name of Collection
  • 2.Visibility of Collection
  • 3.Tag Line of Collection

Once done, select create and you have your new collection.

Working with Your Google Collection

Now when you post within the collection you will be able to build a niche.

In fact, when you post on your main profile it will build your collection for you at the same time.

This seems cool because your able to build to properties simultaneously.

The problem I have with this is that I haven’t figured out how not to post to the new collection from my main profile once it is created.

If you have thoughts on that or would like to share other details about using Google collections, please feel free to leave them in the comments below.

My Frustration with Google Collections

Unlike working with Facebook where updating the branding properties seems straightforward, Google isn’t.

In fact, that is what got me started with writing this article.

I couldn’t figure out how to update the image of trees which just doesn’t fit with my affiliate marketing for beginner’s concept.

Fortunately, I did figure it out.

In the upper right of the image are 3 vertical dots.

If you select those you will be given a menu that includes several options.

One of those options is “edit collections”

If you select that you will be able to upload a banner image. Your profile icon will need to be updated from within your main profile should you want to change that.

Within this panel you can also change the color scheme for your collection.

Once done, select save and viola.

Moving Beyond Creating Your Google Collection

You now have your Google collection in place.

Good job.

Now it’s your turn.

Please share your secrets about Google Collections or any part of marketing on that social platform below. Google is indeed powerful especially for results on their search engine.

Let’s empower each others success together.
