Hey Team,
I was wondering is it worth reviving and old post that hasn't gotten much traction in the past but may still have some good relevant content.
Will Changi
Hi! Vince,
That should be just fine as long as not much copying and pasting but going through a painstaking writing refinement stressing better positioning of keywords, more specific relevant titles and subtitles, better clarity in presentation, etc. Of course, gear up more toward effective e-marketing. In fact, I have been doing it under the need like yours.
Best wish to success and let us know how yours may evolve.

Your old posts might contain some great ideas. review them and give them new look/new presentation
I believing reviving old posts is a good idea for everyone. Just don't change the title or Keywords . Put the new post out on social media and promote it as if it were a new post.

That’s what I usually do. Just spruce them up with fresh ideas keeping the theme the same and putting it back out on social media!
It may be an old post in creation but new clicks is the goal!
Thank you for sharing that Karen
- I revive my old post once a week and I am surprised to see so many spelling errors and how much I repeated myself in a sentence. We are talking about two years ago
- I have come a long way learning how to write a post. I now enjoy giving my old post a new facelift and adding new images, it looks fresh when I add new content.
I would say revive the post. You can replace it with a new post, but leave the old one there. If you delete the old post you may end up with broken links.
I suggest new layouts, images and some additional content. Just make sure to keep the keywords as they are now to avoid broken links.
Make sure your posts include Alt tags in the images, and internal links to relevant content within your website. This all helps with indexing and ranking.
I am reviving/updating several old posts. I believe it is worthwhile doing. Jay recommends writing new posts, and I respect his training. However, I have chosen to update.
All the best.
It's possible. Have you used Keywords in the title and in the body? Is the title compelling enough? Adding good visuals usually helps and certainly can't hurt.
I think it may have had poor choice of keywords as it was done very early on in WA days.
Yes it has key words in the first paragraph. I think add some pics, shuffling format and give the social media promo should kick it back in to gear.
Thanks all for your comments.

Reviving and old post- can it be done?

Hi Vince!
Sure you can!
Updating a post is something we must be constantly doing in order to keep it relevant and improve on SEO.
Just don't change the URL and ranking keywords etc.

I was curious to know from your experience if the amount of comments or quality of comments affect directly how a page ranks in search engines?
Hello Vin
They certainly do because you will have more contents and more ideas so your rank will increase in google. This is one of the criteria that affect how a page ranks in search engines.
Yes, they do! They are amazing at boosting my post ranks on Google. I did not realize how important they were until I made a specific effort to get a bunch of comments and my rank rose up within a day! It was really amazing. The effect does not last forever but it still has a lasting benefit since the comments are adding to the word count of your post. The short term benefit includes increased traffic to your site as well as the increased content length and engagement with your visitors.

Every comment that is being added to your post, qualifies as "content". Since Google loves thick content, the more comments that are being added, the thicker the overall content of your post becomes.
Hi, it is said that quality comments with your engagement help a fair bit with ranking as it shows google etc that you are offering a solution to a problem that people have and people are interested in your content.
It is also meant to help with the 'trust' element.
One thing is for sure, it certainly doesn't do your website any harm! : )
Most definitely they do, comments are proven to grow rank and one of the markers google uses to see if a website is good. How to Comment on Blogs - Effectively
