I was adding a couple of videos to a play list on YouTube and I made the mistake of clicking on an icon in one of them. The sound on all the videos had been replaced by a weird sort of roaring sound (on all my videos not just the YT ones). I can't use the time machine to restore the settings because I haven't set up a backup. Has anybody any idea how I can get rid of this sound - I think it may be caused by a virus

No idea at all it sounds like you have discovered a strange new universe on You Tube. Try resetting your computer settings.

It's a glitch on my mac - no prob with YT!! Seems to be OK when I change my speed setting to 1.5 and then back to normal. I usually find solutions to the problems in my strange new and old universes thank goodness!

May be a computer problem maybe you need to take it to the Apple Store

if you are on a Windows computer first make sure Windows Defender is turned on. second run a virus check or two such as Maleware Bytes and Maleware Hunter. Then go from there.
