I've been experimenting a little with YT videos recently and while it is still something I am new to and the data is not quite conclusive yet, it seems that video is a good way of "doubling up" - especially if it is a monetized video.
For example, I created a page "20 questions to ask a guy" for a questions themed site, and it gradually moved to page 2 of google (still bounces between 2 and 3) then to compliment it, I created a quick 1 min YT video on the same theme, something very basic, and stuck it on that page.
The YT video itself is now right at the top of page 2 as well, this means I get two separate chances to earn income from adsense by doing this. As well as the fact the video should increase the ranking of the page it is embedded in.
Anyone else have anything to add to this? Like I said, I am still in the early stages of testing this but can see potential for sure.

I've noticed this as well. I can create a video with the same title as an article, and rank both, which means more views. If you've branded yourself right, then you get more followers, etc.

Google loves video, it's not just Youtube that will get you a video ranking, it's embedded video from all sorts of video services out there. Vimeo.com is one that works awesome and it can get you a video ranking just as well as Youtube.
Google realizes that media + text converts the best and will attract the most clicks.
Just look at search results that have Google+ Author profiles associated with them. They get clicked SO MUCH more than a text only Google result. Video's get a lot of attention too.
Lots of potential when adding video to your website Dom!
