In this quick post, I'm going to go over what I consider the 4 TYPES of jobs that exist. I will list them from the worst to the best one :)

#4: A job you HATE, and DOESN'T pay well.

This is a typical starting job for most people. My #4 job was Taco Bell. I just hated everything about it. I only lasted 3 weeks.

#3 A job you HATE but PAYS you well.

This is a job that we usually do because we need the money but "it's not really our thing". My #3 job was at a mechanic auto repair shop. I worked at the front desk and I simply didn't enjoy my duties but at 20 years of age, the money was good.

#2 A job you ENJOY but DOESN'T pay well.

For some people, #2 and #3 may switch positions but I think that this is better than two, in my case, because I would rather enjoy what I do. UNLESS, there are kids or a family involved; in that case, money/needs come first. My #2 job was working as a tutor for a tutoring company. I would get $20/hour meanwhile they charged $75/hour. I was the one driving to homes. Not cool!

#1 A job you ENJOY and PAYS well.

This is where we want to get eventually. In some cases, it involves a career or profession that can be accomplished by talent, education, and/or meeting the right people at the right time. My #1 job is my current job: math teacher. Even though nothing is perfect in life, overall I love what I do and enjoy it 98% of the time. I would to, one day, become a professional soccer coach and switch my #1 job!!

1. Learning how to be my own boss at WA

That’s great! Hard work will definitely get you to your #1 job!

I spent most of my life in jobs #2 & #3. I worked in IT support for many years, and the pay was good, but the stress levels were through the roof. Most were FT roles, the rest were FT but contract work, that depended solely on the company agreeing to continue the contract. This was when I learned about the outsourcing of jobs to other countries, because they could pay them much less than they had to pay US workers.

I spent some time working retail after a failure in contract negotiations. I started out loving the job, but soon the lack of pay, requirements to purchase the clothes to "look the part", and the hours began to wear on me. I eventually quit that job when I was able to obtain FT work in the marketing field, a complete shift from my IT background.

Even that job started out great, but even though illness had the final say, I still disliked the job, and all the micromanaging.

I've always been someone who would rather work for myself, as that is what my parents did, yet they have constantly advised me that it was not the path to go. How can you tell someone not to do what you did, when self employment comes with much more flexibility, being able to travel when you want, run errands, etc, that a traditional job can't support.

I'm lucky that I'm now in a position where I can focus solely on my sites, but my health still plays a huge role in how much I can do in a given day. So it may take longer for me to see results than it would for someone who works on their site nonstop. But for me, I have no choice, my health is of the utmost importance, and without it, there is no one to do this work for me.

Job 4 computer type setting
Job3 office messager /court clerk
Job 2 databases administration
Job1. The reason I am working heard at WA it's work on progress

That’s great. I can see accomplishing that #1 job!

I'm retired so my current "job" is basically WA and my affiliate websites. - shirley

My job (working as a therapist in a hospital) swings between #2 and #3. There are days when I can tolerate the atmosphere (administrative politics) and feel fairly paid and there are days when I feel I'm on a rudderless ship and no amount of money is enough.

However, I look at my 9-5 gig as motivation to persevere and do my best to succeed in affiliate marketing.

Here's my new motto, "If you don't find a way to make money in your sleep you will work until you die" - Warren Buffet

NICE MOTTO!!!
