Leaving the land of Familiar - Who will turn you back?
It's Monday Morning here in New Zealand and over the weekend I got to thinking about a great book I read about 20 years ago and decided to share some of what I learned from this book.
It is called the Dream Giver and when I read it I was going through a bit of a tough time, feeling like I didn't fit into what is considered normal.
What's normal?
Having a job, working for someone else just wasn't who I am and while I was visiting a friend who was a psychologist she suggested I read this book.
I soon realized we don't have to fit a mold at all and I continued living life doing what I love.
Border Bullies
There was a chapter in this book about Border Bullies and I feel it is too good to not share with you.
As you move along growing your business online, there will be times when you are so excited and happy with what you are doing, you will want to share this with people you are close to and this is quite normal however there is something may find when you do this.
You catch up with family or friends and you tell them all about your new business and all the things you are doing and you are enthusiastic, excited and ready for them to feel like you do. They are thrilled for you!!! NOT.
They tell you things like, "Oh yeah, I don't reckon that'll work or have you made any money yet? or nah, that's for me or good on you" and they show either very little interest in what you are doing or they throw some negatives your way and you start to feel your happy bubble going flat.
So how come people do this?
The land of familiar
One day and even for some of us, we have left the land of familiar, we are no longer working for someone else and have created a full time income working online and for others, you are working hard to achieve this as well. This is called leaving the land of familiar in the book and often when we share our journey about leaving the land of familiar, our friends and family and others try to have their say, without intention of being hurtful and the negatives (border bullies) will try to take you back to the land of familiar as this is where these people like to live.
Power on
Accept their comments as their thoughts, not yours, smile and make this power you on to do great things even more than before.
You came to Wealthy Affiliate to create and build your online success story and I'm telling you right now, one day when the money starts rolling in some of these people are going to step forward and they too are going to want to leave the land of familiar and join you with their new online journey. :)
Just keep going and NEVER let the naysayers and border bullies take you back to the land of familiar.
You left there the day you started here and you must never walk backwards. There is a reason you started this awesome journey so let your WHY keep motivating you and may success and you become best friends.
And remember this
Please like and share your comments with me on how it feels to leave the land of familiar :)

Thank you for sharing this Ms. Vicki. I couldn't agree more with what you wrote. I am currently working on my B.A.S. degree and am taking "Intro to Humanities" and we have been discussing what the human experience is and this goes right along with our discussions.
Most people will turn their noses up to anything they do not understand. They may act as though they know everything about it but in reality, have no clue. We are different than them. We choose to take a chance regardless of the possibility of failure. If we never try new things, then how are we supposed to grow as humans. It is through failure that we improve and succeed.
Hey Allan and thank you for stopping by today
I totally agree with you
People who are afraid to leave their comfort zones can't understand people like the members here in Wa building awesome futures and I guess hopefully when they realize what we can achieve will join us as well
Enjoy your new week ahead and thanks again
Ms Vicki
Ms. Vicki,
Funny that you put this up today of all days, I was just chatting with a friend and you know what yes the negativity was showing
but I did not care because this is the place I want to be making money here is a slow process but eventually, it will come.
Will it be overnight no way but that is ok because now I have the
skills and the mindset knowing all of this is possible with work and patience.
Thank you for letting people know that this is very true!
Susan
Quite often people are stuck Susan and they want you to stay stuck without them intending this.
You must always smile and send them love and keep growing and being awesome online
Thanks for your comments today my friend
Enjoy your new week ahead

A great read Vicki this has helped me see there is light at the end of the tunnel. Your experience shines through when it comes to not losing sight of the bigger picture. Now back to work for me today i am concentrating on my post.
Great stuff Angela
Keep building my friend as every post takes you closer to your goals
Thank you for your kindness and enjoy today
Vicki
Thanks for your post, Vicki.
There are always naysayers for everything, aren't there? People love to point out all the negatives of what we might be trying to achieve. My brother, for example, only asks me if we have 'made any money yet'. Other than that, he is not interested. Of course, he doesn't understand this business which is partly the reason.
Thank goodness we have each other here at WA to encourage and support us.
We will ignore those border bullies and show 'em what we can do.
Rock your week!
Colette and Philip
I hear you there you 2 and yes, we just need to stay focused and build more and more to our sites
Great to hear from you both and you too rock your new week as well

Thanks so much for the sharing and advice. It is indeed very true of what you mentioned here. Life is not a bed of roses. When time gets tough, we need someone to give us encouraging words and suppprt.
I am thankful that here in WA, I have found great community which gives me the positive environment to keep me going.
Happy Monday!
Agnes
