Writing Under Pressure

I just published my first post for the week, just a few minutes ago...

Nothing earth-shattering here, it's just that ever since I started with Michael's (Ultimateless) challenge the beginning of the year, I've made ever effort to publish 3 posts a week. Initially, I was wavering between 2 and 3, but the last few months, I've been consistent with 3 a week. I've been really proud of the consistency. But the last couple of weeks have been a bit weird...

I'm usually able to have all 3 of my posts completed by Thursday the latest, but I have had quite a number of appointments spread throughout the week, so I found myself writing at different times each week. I don't mind a change in schedule, but when Thursday comes and I haven't even published one post, I was getting a bit anxious.

But something strange has occurred...

I'm finding that I can write well under pressure! There have been days when I literally have said to myself, "You gotta get this done tonight!" And it happens!

Although I had a busy day today, I could have written something earlier, but I was feeling a bit slugzy (sluggish + lazy). I really wanted to catch "Felicity" on Netflix, so I knew I needed to get this finished by 8:30/9pm, which would give me 2 hours to watch 2 episodes of Season 3...hey, we all have our own indulgences, don't judge!

Okay, I'm going way off tangent here...

The point I'm making is this: Isn't it amazing what we can accomplish when we really push ourselves!!! When something just clicks in our mind, and we know, without a doubt, that it's gonna get done, no matter what!!! And what's really cool is that I came up with 1357 words! Now, I don't expect that every week I'll have to wait until the final hour so to speak, but it's good to know that when things come down to the wire, I can handle the pressure!

Okay...time for Netflix!!! Have a great evening/morning, and always...

Strive to Thrive,
Veronica

Veronica, thanks for your frankness, even with your indulgences. Hahaha.Lol.

Too funny, Nelson.

Way to go Veronica!! I love writing and I posted a new post in WA if you have the time to check it out! :) Almost done level 1 of the first course, and I'm beat! Been up since 3:30 working on WA..It will all be worth it in the end :) I might need to catch a little nap soon! So you watch "Felicity" I have a couple series I'm into "Supernatural: and "Pretty Little Liars" lol..yes a teenage show my son got me into...lol

Oh man, I have a good friend that's reay into PPL, she even watched commentary on YouTube! Im usually game for watching something new, but I never even caught one episode.

Yeah, I watched "Felicity" when it was on air, but I can't remember how it ended. I was up a bit later than ai should have been last night, but I was able to catch 3 episodes of season 3. I can work hard during the week, but when I need to chill and let my mind go blank....Netflix is there!

I studied news-editorial journalism in college and learned then that the pressure of a deadline always makes me write better and faster -- I don't have time to go back and re-read and change things over and over! So now I try to set deadlines for myself -- not as easy to do, but at least I have a goal!

I can work under pressure when involved in event planning, but didn't think I had it in me to write under pressure. I definitely don't want to do that every week, but at least I know I can get the job done!

True! As I have gotten older, I do not like the pressure either -- but sometimes I set a simpler goal where I will decide on a topic and give myself a 2 or 3 day window to get that blog done! I did get most of one done yesterday, but then it was time to make supper and evenings I have promised to spend with my significant other as much as possible! So I will be finishing that post this morning! After the lawn gets mowed! LOL

The pressure we put on ourselves sometimes is the hardest to overcome.

So true, Kevin.

Good morning Veronica,

Ah.......the pressure, you are telling me. I was living this nice and quiet life up country and thought I have extra time so I can do something new. Since I started with WA half Jan. the computer is ruling my life. Who would have thought that? Me, a completely anti-machine type of person. Anyhow, I manage a post each for my 2 websites a week and that is it! By the way, did you see my last WA post-Welcome Refugees? I plan to write approx 1 WA post per month as I am too busy reading other people's posts and answer the many follows.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Greeting, Taetske!

I missed your last post, I'll check it out now.

Sometimes, the pressure is good; sometimes it is off-putting.

I agree!

The power of commitment and goals. You had to get it done to stay on track. Good for you. Debbie

Thanks, Debbie! I still have 2 more for the week, but at least I have a few ideas.

lol
I watch shows on Netflix too when I'm writing code!
But I can't concentrate on writing posts if I'm watching something or listening to something at the same time though

I used to think I needed background noise, but now, I find that I can be just as productive when it's absolutely quiet. Every now and then, I might put on something that's not too distrcting. For a few weeks, Doc McMuffin was my to have on; I'd take a peak here and there but it wouldn;t draw me in, lol!

Wow! That is a long one V! You are really getting better. I remember when you struggled to get a post done! That was just a few months ago it seems. You are on fire!!!! Much more productive than me on that front. I am not writing anything.

Jessica

Ahh...you remember correctly, Jessica. Keyword search really kicked my butt, and now I love it! But I now have something that I dislike...finding images!!! UGH!!!

Yeah, you may not be writing, Jessica, but you have some things going on social media whereas other than creating accounts, I have zero activity! I did whatever tasks were given during the certification than I just stopped! So maybe we can switch one month: you do more writing and I do more on social media! We can call it the JV Challenge!!!.

Once the writing training gets going it can really take off Veronica!

So it seems, Papa! I don;t know how you do it, but you always seem to make your way to my posts, along with encouraging a thousand other people every day. Thank you!
