Woo Them With Your Welcome

Whether you're coming to the home of a friend, meeting an acquaintance, being interviewed for a job, or just entering a store, the "welcome" you receive - or don't - can really set the tone and be a determining factor on whether you stay for a long visit, keep looking at your watch, or decide to dash out the back entrance.

How Do I Greet Thee... Let Me Count The Ways

So, here's the thing: whether you're considered a more "seasoned" member with years of experience on the Wealthy Affiliate platform, or just came to this platform earlier today, at some point, we all experienced the "welcome". Always from Kyle, sometimes from Carson, and definitely (hopefully) from the person's whose link brought you to this wonderful platform.

What was your first reaction? I remember getting the welcome from Kyle; I knew it was an automated response, but that didn't stop me from going on and on about how excited I was (turns out, very little can keep me from talking). I really wasn't expecting a reply, I guess I just wanted the record to show that I was excited.

But, to my surprise, he did reply! Hmm...was this really Kyle or just some fancy smancy robot... So, I decided to test it out by sending another response, something a bit more personal. Again...a reply. I figured that if it wasn't really Kyle, that whomever or whatever it was that was replying to my messages was really nice and seemed pretty cool. So either way, I felt pretty good about the exchange.

Shower Them With Love... Or At least A Warm Greeting

I signed up on a Sunday evening, I believe it was some time after 10 pm; I received the message to set up my profile and create a bio. Yippee!!! Another reason for me to gab away without hindrance! I was really starting to like this place!

I can't remember if I set up my profile the same night or the next morning, but it wasn't long before something strange occurred: people started to stop by and welcome me! Like, a lot of people! And even more astonishing...many seemed to have really read my bio...all of it! I think that baby is at least 1,000 words, so for any of you who read the whole thing...you rock!

You Want Them To Stay, Don't You?

I'll let you in on a little secret: We all have our very on, personalized affiliate link! Isn't that the coolest thing! And those little links are what you can add to your posts on your website! Hey, I know this may seem like basic knowledge for many of us, but there are some who may not be aware or may have forgotten about this little baby.

Actually, it took me months to discover this; actually that's not quite accurate. I knew about the links, but for some reason, I thought that you had to go through the Bootcamp to add them to your site. Seriously. I even posted a question about this, and as always, many people responded and I was steered in the right direction. Don't ask me where I got the notion that you could only use the links and banners if you're going through the Bootcamp. More than likely it was a product of me overthinking, but in posting the question, I found that I was not the only one who had that thought.

So, after you've done your research and someone has read your beautifully written, content- rich post and they click onto your affiliate link, they would see this welcome page:

I think it's safe to say that we all saw this at some point, or at least a variation of it. Pretty standard...attractive layout...looks interesting....very informative...but something is missing...

What's Missing you ask...YOU!!!

Do you want an automated message to greet your potential referrals, or do you want to welcome them? Yeah, I know, you can send them a greeting after they set up their profile page or even before. But how about even before that...

What???

Yes. Even before they have signed up, you can greet them with that handsome or beautiful face of yours, by creating a Custom Home Page.

Doesn't It look Pretty!!! This, is what we call a Custom Page.

Instead of see the "What's Happening Now", you can create your very own greeting that people will see even before they sign up for the Free Membership! I'd say that's way cool... but more importantly, it's just a lot more personal. Think about this for a minute: You've taken a great deal of time to connect with your reader. You know what their problems, issues or challenges are, You give them solutions to meet those problems, and you take the time to share with them how they would benefit from going in the direction you so gently guided them to go. so after all that, why just leave the in the dust!

First Impressions Matter

Obviously, thousands of people have joined Wealthy Affiliate before the updates to the welcome page. But now that the updates are here, why not take full advantage! I can assure you, that even if you have some...ah...technical challenges, this really is easy to set up.

So let's not miss this perfect opportunity to put our best face forward! It can't hurt but it can definitely help. There's one thing that I'm slowly beginning to have a deeper understanding of all the goodies we have access to, that's easy to overlook something and put it into the "not that important" category. But then I have to ask myself, "Hmm...why did Kyle and Carson decide to add that feature?"

Let's show Loes some love by taking a look at her training...there's a reason why I stalk her, lol. May all your welcomes be warm and bright. And always...
