Week 7 - Healthier Me Challenge
Greetings To All,
For the rest of this year, I'll be writing weekly posts, of my Healthier Me Challenge!
In each of the posts, I'll be sharing a variety of things: my weekly goals; new recipes; excerpts from books I'm reading; and a few mental obstacles that I'm fighting, to name a few. My hope, is that as I share my journey, I will encourage, inspire and motivate others to reach their Best Self!!!
Weekly Goals:
Instead of focusing on words like "can't", "don't" and "bad", I decided to make some changes. So, each week, I'll adopt a healthier habit, and eliminate an unhealthy habit. It can be anything! The only rule is to adopt AND eliminate!
Week #7
Healthy Habit to Adopt: Cardio 4-5x week, strength-building 2-3x week
Unhealthy Habit to Eliminate: Eating after 7:30 pm
Update:
Nothing earth-shattering to report; decided to move up my time to eating my last meal to 7:30 pm, which just means that I have to eat my last meal before that time. That's actually been easier than I had anticipated. Still seem to be struggling with engaging in strength-building exercises. Not really sure what the issue is with that, especially since I'm not setting a goal that is so unreasonable or unrealistic. Even if it was just 15 minutes for each session, that would be better than nothing. I'm more fascinated by my behavior than discouraged; it's also somewhat annoying, because I'm know that's one activity that will speed up my metabolism. So, for now, I stick to walking 4-5 days a week, averaging about 45-60 minutes each time. I appreciate my steady progress, but there's room for improvement.
I'll leave you with something that can encourage and inspire us all in every aspect of our lives, the eloquent and wise words of Henry David Thoreau:
"If we advance confidently in the directions of our own dreams and endeavor to live the life we have imagined, we will meet with success unexpected in common hours."
Strive to Thrive,
Veronica

Hi Veronica,
I'm glad to hear that you are continuing on your journey to fitness and health. If you don't want to do a "strength training" routine, then try "the plank challenge". I'm currently doing it now. It works a lot of your body parts at the same time. It's a simple process, but it's challenging at the same time. I'm doing the 28 day challenge, I'm on day 10. My core is woefully out of shape, and it really hits this area for me.
There's no equipment to buy, no gym to go to. You may have to look it up online to get one that suits you. By the time I'm done, I'll be able to do a four minute plank!! I can't wait!!
I wish you all the best and continued success!!
Have a great day, take care my friend.
Mary
