Greetings To All,

For the rest of this year, I'll be writing weekly posts, of my Healthier Me Challenge!
In each of the posts, I'll be sharing a variety of things: my weekly goals; new recipes; excerpts from books I'm reading; and a few mental obstacles that I'm fighting, to name a few. My hope, is that as I share my journey, I will encourage, inspire and motivate others to reach their Best Self!!!

Weekly Goals:
Instead of focusing on words like "can't", "don't" and "bad", I decided to make some changes. So, each week, I'll adopt a healthier habit, and eliminate an unhealthy habit. It can be anything! The only rule is to adopt AND eliminate!

Week #13
Healthy Habit to Adopt: Vegetarian diet
Unhealthy Habit to Eliminate: lack of exercising

Update:

This week marked my official start of eating all vegetarian meals! I'm definitely having fun with finding new recipes; although I'm an avid meat-eater, I'm not missing it at all. Plus, this is not my first time going vegetarian for a bit, so it's not so difficult.

My challenge is that I'm still making "allowances" such as chips and cookies. Going into next week, I'll have to eliminate those altogether, but make sure to have a healthier replacement. So if I want something sweet and cold, instead of ice cream, I can have an Italian icy or a bowl of frozen mangoes or peaches, but I'll need to find a healthier alternative for chips.

There's a new Zumba class (a combination of aerobic workout and Latin dance) right at the library near where I live. These series will usually run for a few months; yesterday was the first class. I was undecided about attending, but the decision was made for me based on 2 things that occurred:

The first incident was that I could only find one of my sneakers, Not one pair, just one sneaker. My back closet needs some major work, so I think it's those darn closet monsters playing tricks on me again.

The other incident was that it was pouring rain most of the day with a touch of thunder and lightning. Although I love walking in the rain, thunder and lightning is just a bit too dramatic for me. Luckily, I was able to go for my morning walk (with snow boots) before all the weather drama.

I'll be cutting this short, folks. I'm feeling a bit groggy a result of some medication I took last night. My brain is a bit fuzzy, so I'll be laying down for a bit.

As always, I appreciate everyone who takes the time to stop by and read my journey. Thank you.

Strive to Thrive,
Veronica

Veronica you are great to your healthier challenge. Keep it up.

Thank you, Damien!

Thanks Veronica, looking forward to hearing more :-)

Thanks for stopping by, John.

Good morning Veronica,

Mary is right, the good alternative for chips is making your own from sweet potatoes and olive oil in the oven. If you have to buy it do read the label, often you then do not buy it!

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Thanks for the tip, Taetske!

Hi Veronica,
It's good to hear from you. I've been out of the picture for a little bit. Got some well needed down time...YEAH!!! So, now I'm getting back on track. I'm glad to see you are doing so well with your vegetarian change over. If you want a healthier chip, try sweet potato chips, they're crispy and are better for you if you do them yourself. If doing them yourself is not an option, they have several good brands in the stores that may be to your liking, in the health food isle.
As for Zumba, I tried it and just as I figured, I have two left feet when it comes to Latin dancing....Lol!! I hope you have better luck at it than I did!!!
Have a great weekend, take care my friend.
Mary

Greetings Mary,

Have a great weekend!

Go for it girl:)))

Thanks, Loes!
