Greetings To All,

For the rest of this year, I'll be writing weekly posts, of my Healthier Me Challenge!
In each of the posts, I'll be sharing a variety of things: my weekly goals; new recipes; excerpts from books I'm reading; and a few mental obstacles that I'm fighting, to name a few. My hope, is that as I share my journey, I will encourage, inspire and motivate others to reach their Best Self!!!

Weekly Goals:
Instead of focusing on words like "can't", "don't" and "bad", I decided to make some changes. So, each week, I'll adopt a healthier habit, and eliminate an unhealthy habit. It can be anything! The only rule is to adopt AND eliminate!

Week #11
Healthy Habit to Adopt: Vegetarian diet
Unhealthy Habit to Eliminate: lack of exercising

Update:

Vegetarianism here I come!!!

I love vegetables...I love fruit...I love meat...basically, I just love food!!!

Now, I have no intention of becoming a vegetarian for life, but I do find that I have a lot more energy when I adopt this particular diet. What I noticed for me is that meat in itself is not bad, but I find that a lot of times, the things that I like to eat with meat tend to be too high in carbs, sugar or salt. I'm not really sure for how long I'll be doing this, but at least until the end of April, possibly May. In the near future, I'll incorporate vegetarian meals on a regular basis each month.

I did a fruit and vegetable fast once for 40 days - strictly fruits and vegetables - so a vegetarian diet for a month or so is more than doable. I also feel as if my body is craving it as well. The timing couldn't be more perfect: one of my housemates has adopted a vegan lifestyle for several months now, so this has introduced me to a wide range of new, interesting and tasty recipes.

Contrary to what many people believe, vegetarianism is not dull - it's all in the seasoning!!!

Despite not exercising as much as I should have or slipped into some unhealthy habits the last few weeks, I only gained 1.4 pounds! I was both shocked and happy that I didn't gain back all the weight I had lost.

I'm looking forward to getting my body in motion again (yes, I'll continue with Yoga) and writing in my journal daily.

What I'm most thankful for is the way GOD has designed our bodies; that when we adopt healthier habits, it responds!

Strive to Thrive,
Veronica

Husband loves this piece. He is vegan

Excellent!!!

great on you, keep going
I am vegetarian and I love it .

For how long?

since 2009. My family is still on Meat.
But I trick them sometimes to eat vegetarian

That's funny! I'm finding that with the right ingredients and seasoning, I can really make some delicious meals. I made my first vegetarian chilli about a month ago. It came out so good, one of my vegan friends got hooked and made it herself about 2 weeks later!

Just had paleo steak and broccoli tonight Veronica. A great combination!

That sounds delicious Papa l!!!

Similar to Tyrell's great successful diet!

LOVE the menu!

I just finished a baked red potato and green beans and it was so yummy!!!

NOW you have me just plain jealous and famished!!!

Hahaha....I wish I could share!

I should follow your example, you inspire me to start again withgood habits and with spring it is really a good idea with vegetables, fruits. Thanks for sharing

Just start with something small, Odile. If you only eat 1 vegetable a day, shoot for two; perhaps you can start with having one vegetarian meal a week. I'm fortunate tbat I really do love fruits and vegetables, so that's a tremendous help. All the best!

Thank you very much for the tip ;)

Fantastic decipline Veronica
I've been trying hard go all Vergi but always get stuck at the middle. May when my kids starts Uni and I'm all alone.

If you like to cook, you can find some great recipes. Thanks for stopping by, Alexandra!

I like the concept of your challenge! I wish you best luck or perseverance or what it ever it requires to accomplish this weeks goals.

Thank you, Sondra!

Great Veronica. Inspiration for me to begin (again) my own program. All my life and up to February 2016 I was a health buff, eating, working out, cleansing, the works. Then I don't know what happened. This year in particular started out really badly. I've gained 20 pounds already between November 2016 and now. It's depressing. But yesterday I started a move towards eating healthier, exercising regularly, and cleansing the body as I should. I'm getting back on track, darn it. I'd try to keep up with you (not the vegetarian diet yet, tho). Be good.

That you decided to get back on track is a great stary, Rozita. I find that instead of attempting to do noo much, every week, I just focus on one - just one - healthier habit to adopt and eliminate.

I got my 50th birthday in Spetember - I want to look and feel the healthiest I've ever felt!!!

That's great, Veronica! You know I am fasting too. You see we Orthodoxe are fasting for 40, it is 49 with the Holy week, before Easter! So I eat vegetables and fruits for the last 22 days!

It's really not as difficult as it may seem. As with many things, it's about controlling your mind.

I hope your time of fasting is an enlightening one, Reanna!

Well done Veronica, go you, it is so amazing the complexity of the human body we are so blessed.

Yes indeed. Thanks for stopping by, Alex!
