Indexed vs Ranked
Just when you think you know something....
If you've been on this platform for at least few weeks, you have probably read people declare, "I've been indexed by Google!", or, "My post got ranked #1."
Fantastic! What does that mean exactly?
I felt that I had a pretty good understanding of the difference between being indexed and getting ranked. Perhaps I did, but I'm not sure if I could have explained it in a way to someone that would have resembled any form of English!
My buddy PeterK77 shared with me one of Jay's webinars from May 2017,
"21 Minute Ranking Method" which explains the difference perfectly - of course it does...it's Jay!

In simple terms, to be indexed just means that Grandpa Google recognizes that your site exists and has placed your site in their search engine.
To be ranked means that your site has been recognized and listed in Google, based on the keywords you used in your content.
To simplify it even more, here are some visuals that help me to remember the difference:
Indexed
VS
RANKED
Get the picture....Strive to Thrive,

Thank you Veronica. I've struggled with meaning, knowing "about" what it means. Clears it up.
Have a super week.
Yeah, this was one of those concepts that I was a bit shaky in my understanding, but watching Jay's webinar was a real eye-opener. Thanks for reading, Valerie.
That was a great way of explaining the difference. I too liked the pictural representation of the differences.
Interestingly enough, Sondra, even though I've been on this platform for over a year, it just "clicked" after watching Jay's webinar a few weeks ago. This illustration came to me just yesterday! Love the fact that we can always learn something "new"...no matter how long we've been on this platform!
Thanks for reading, Sondra!
