A to Z analogy: Matches

In my A to Z Analogy, I will take places, things and people and relate them to developing our online business. This is just for fun, but perhaps, you'll be able to see something from a different perspective.

Today's Analogy: M for Matches

No, not these kind of matches...

These kind of matches...

Stuffed in a cardboard box or laying about on the table, the matches seem pretty harmless.

Initially, my "M" was going to be "Music", but that just seemed too easy. Sow, here I am, attempting to link matches with our time here at Wealthy Affiliate...

You can have the matches in a box, laying on the table, in your pocket, a plastic bag, floating in the toilet...it really doesn't matter where you put them. A week from now, a month or even a year later, if you take out those matches from the box, they will still be matches. Unless they got smothered with water, they will look exactly the same.

But if you strike one of those matches...

FIRE!!!

And what can fire do? It can cook food, provide heat, and burn things down...and my favorite: toast marshmallows. But it can't do any of those things unless the match is struck...

The training that's provided through the Certification and Bootcamp is absolutely incredible; we can receive great tips from fellow WA members through their posts and training; read the discussion in Live Chat; we can even receive personal guidance through a PM...

But all these are useless!!! Yep...you read that correctly. They are useless until you do one thing:

Strike That Match!!!

Now, here's where it gets interesting, each of us have different "matches" to strike. For one, it may be not just going trough the Certification or Bootcamp, but actually completing the tasks...all of them. For another, it may be to follow through on advice given by your mentor or someone whom you have great respect for. Perhaps for others, striking that match will be to actually come up with a schedule, writing regularly on their site, or exploring social media.

What's really great is that we all start off with a full box of matches. Now, as with regular matches, you don't want to light them all at once, or else you may create a flame that's uncontrollable! Maybe this week, you can only light 2 or 3 matches, but next week, you may feel bolder and light 10!

How many you light is really up to you. But here's the thing: YOU have to light the matches because they won't light themselves.

I'll leave you with the words of famous song:

"Come on baby light my fire."

And always...

Strive to Thrive,

Veronica

Vee, You make my day Brighter!
You Enlighten me by sharing your wisdom and knowledge!
You ignite my engines!

This week I'm working on my posts, checking out if my images MATCHES my content and if my Call to Action MATCHES the content and vice versa - wise advice from our friend Bo!

Have a spark(l)ing day, my dear!
;-)

Your comments always are so bright and full of joy, Pernilla. Thank you always for lifting my spirits.

Continue to let your light shine bright!

It is definitely hard to keep all the matches burning. I'm still working on my schedule. I seem to set the schedule and then run overtime on research for posts, and get behind. Practice makes perfect

It really is a day-by-day process, Lisa. It's taken me 3 days just to respond to the comments on this post...that has never happened! This week was a lot busier than I had anticipated, so I'll be playing catch up - again - tomorrow.

Thanks for your comment, Lisa.

Hi Veronica, I'm going to need a bigger box of matches! Another great use would be to strike a match to help light the way for someone else. This is something you do quite often.

All the best to you, my friend.
Sue

Oh, wow...I didn't even think of that! That's perfect, Sue!

Nothing like a bit of fire to heat things up V! The other good thing is that when you strike a match your create more light so you can see where you're going.... :)

It's amazing how much light can be produced just from a small flame.

Wonderful, such a clever way to describe what we need to do. Thank you. Off to strike another match!

Good for you, Tania!

I am ok with striking the match, but what I fail to do is to use all the matches in the box. I might be ok with using the match to post on my blog, but the one to use on social media, tend not to pull that one that often.

The one that I use for my bing advertising, I have no problem with that one. But I remember Kyle saying if we focus on one match from the box, success can still be achieved, what do you think?

Hmm...interesting question, David. The first thing that came to mind is the term, "multiple streams of income".

I think many would agree with that different "streams" is a good thing, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to juggle different things at the same time. I've heard it said that it's better to "perfect" one thing before moving on to something else. That doesn't mean you have to quit your day job to pursue your online business, but having a day job, pursuing an online business, then setting up a T-shirt printing business may not be the best route to go.

Good show Veronica! Wasn't sure you were gonna pull off that match trick but you did it like a champ. Well you are a champ now I guess. My problem is I'm sometimes striking too many matches in a day instead of letting them burn thru i.e finishing what I start.

Oh...I've been guilty of doing the same thing, Goran. But...a new year means a new way of doing things.

Haa! good analogy Veronica. Love the song too!

Can't remember who sang it, but it was a catchy tune.

Girl!!

A little old group called "The Doors" ;-)

Jose Feliciano also had a hit with it!

Yes, it was certainly "Catchy" to say the least.... Haa!

Ahh, yes...The Doors. Thanks!

Yay veronica I'd like to see a vid of you singing that, A well lit up post!

Hmmm...we'll talk my rate of pay later...Oh, you thought I'd do it for free!!!

AAah Veronica!!!

This is one way to strike up some comments. Does that light you up?

Hahaha....good one, Jared!
