In my A to Z Analogy, I will take places, things and people and relate them to developing our online business. This is just for fun, but perhaps, you'll be able to see something from a different perspective.

Today's Analogy: I for Interviews

What comes to mind when you hear the word, "interview"?

Terrifying...hopeful...absurd..excitement...anxiety...curious...annoyance...The list of emotions that that one word can elicit seems endless. Yet, for the majority of us, regardless of whether we have a negative or positive response, we have had to endure them...sometimes too many!

Personally, I find interviews to be annoying, and if I really want to get dramatic, I'd call it a necessary evil. All the time it takes just to get your foot in the door, without even a guarantee that you'll get hired, just seems like a form of insanity to me. But I digress (something you really can't do in an interview - another reason not to like them)...

Yet, there are some things we can glean from the whole interview process that we can relate to our business:

Interviews:

There's no getting around this, if you want any shot of being hired, you simply have to be prepared; to name a few:

- Researching the company prior to the interview is strongly recommended.

- Must have an updated resume with multiple copies.

- Have to wait to receive a call or email for the interview to be scheduled.

- Should have at least 3 references.

- Must have business attire - don't be fooled, just because your suit is dark, they can still see the ketchup on the collar.

- Having questions in advanced makes you look prepared, even if you don't know what the heck you're saying.

Wealthy Affiliate:

- OK to research the company, but not a requirement.

- Resume not needed unless you just want to use it for scrap paper to jot down notes on the back.

- Most of us got a sort of personal invitation to join...from a stranger!

- No references needed, just a good work ethic and respectful attitude.

- Business attire: PJ's, jeans & T-shirt, workout gear, swimsuit...whatever!

- You can ask as many questions as you want through Live Chat, posting questions, PM's, and the training. No need to try to find the "right" way to ask a question, you can just be yourself and know that you'll get multiple responses.
