A to Z Analogy: Home

In my A to Z Analogy, I will take places, things and people and relate them to developing our online business. This is just for fun, but perhaps, you'll be able to see something from a different perspective.

Today's Analogy: H for Home

So, below is the place where I grew up...

With some slight variations, lol.

OK, so the home I grew up in was not quite as grand, but it didn't make it any less special. Our home was a 2-level house in the the suburbs of Long Island, New York. My early childhood came on the cusp of the Civil Rights Movements in American and the Vietnam War protests. But somehow I was shielded from all of that; my parents not only provided for the needs of my sister and I, but also gave us memories that will last a lifetime.

So, the obvious comparison with Wealthy Affiliate would be the nurturing environment of this community; but there's something else that comes to mind: experiencing our "firsts".

For many of us, home was where we spoke the eloquent words like "da da", "ma ma", or "ahhgoomaapa" which of course means, "Please pass me the Arts and Leisure section of the New York Times." It's where we first learned to crawl, walk, run, speak full sentences, dress ourselves, play...and most importantly: engage with human contact.

As new babes or "newbies", our "mothers" and "fathers" often looked very different from us - coming from different countries - but taught us the proper "language" to speak, and helped us to take our first steps as we developed and grew our online business, extending a helping hand to catch us when we fall..

This, to me, is home.

So, go ahead...curl up in your favorite chair or couch...gather around the kittcen table...take in the beauty of your backyard...and always...

Strive to Thrive,

Veronica

If we had a good experience growing up, I think we imagine our home being a castle. When I go home to visit, it looks so much smaller than I remember! Great post, Veronica.
Debbie

I often wonder how I would view the house where I grew up if I were to see it again.

This is a great analogy about home. It sure brings back those memories of times ago.

Glad you liked it, Louisa!

You're welcome Veronica!

Veronica, I can definitely say that it feels good to call WA, home, after spending far too much time looking for 'home' elsewhere in my past.

My heart feels happy here which makes the proverb "Home is where the heart is" very apt.

~Mark

I couldn't agree with you more, Mark.

Veronica,

I especially love the picture at the end of your post. I want a cup of hot chocolate and to sit by the fireplace now just looking at that picture.

It is the small moments that mean so much.

Lisa

Absolutely, Lisa. It actually reminds me of the fireplace I had growing up in Long Island.

Very nice post V. Brings back sweet memories of my childhood and growing up with my family. Growing up in the 50s was such an innocent time then moving into the more turbulent 60s was quite a change. But we had a tight nurturing family and somehow our innocence was preserved. So for that I give all credit to mom and dad.

We grew up in different decades, Craig but I totally agree with the protection my parents provided.

A fantastic post as always. Your narrative is so easy to relate to

Thank you so much, Jacqueline.

I'm going to be home more after 3 weeks from now. Thanks for sharing, Veronica.

I hope your time will be a productive one, Roger.

Great blog Veronica,

Thank you, Alejandra!

Aw... Gorgeous post, Veronica! Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "my home is my castle". And I didn't miss the WA metaphor.

Hahaha...nothing gets past you, Lauren!
