She Didn't Love Anybody

There's an awesome story I once read. Some details might have slipped of my memory and I added some new details to it.

So here it is.

Once upon a time here was an old woman not loved by anybody. And she never loved anyone. It just happened so.She never got married, she didn't have any children.

Actually, she wasn't too old, It's her lonliness and emptiness in her soul made her look old and she got to thinking that she was old.She wasn't ugly either with the big brown eyes, dark hair with just a few grey strands in it and quite a slender figure...

She didn't have any relatives. The only friend she had died three years ago.A very small pension and not a very good health didn't allow her to have a dog. As for cats, she feared them after carefully studying the Bulletin on the wall in the district hospital.

It said that cats were messengers of evil, and, it was clearly demonstrated by pictures of hefty worms, fleas and bright red blisters.

That summer the woman liked to walk in the park near the house. There were not many people there, mostly the same old women as she. But they were all busy- women with noisy grandchildren, women with big and small dogs, women with other women talking. She even saw old women with elderly men, smiling at each other happily, which was particularly disappointing.

Nobody paid attention to the old lonely woman in unattractibe clothes with the gloom and sadness imprinted on her face, and she walked along the alleys of the park, pretending to be engaged in sports walking.

One day, she came across a young tree, broken almost in half. It was just so sad and so unbearable to look at it, that the woman, without hesitation, untied the belt which supported her skirt, and with its help and with the help of some sticks, she splinted the fracture. She stood for a moment, making sure that tree was not falling, and went home, holding the skirt with her hands.

The next day, going for a walk, she brought a plastic bottle of water. The tree dropped the branches down, but it was still alive. The woman watered it from the bottle and started walking through the alleys in circles so that every time she could pass by the belted tree.

The whole week she was watering the tree.It was gradually coming back to life and she had an impression the tree was smiling at her each time she was coming up to it.

And in the beginning of the next week she found a huge pit instead of the tree. "We are building a fountain", – happily announced a vigorous digger.

The woman stood a little looking at the pit, sighed, drank the water from the bottle, threw in into the bin and went home. There she pulled out the best dress she hadn't worn for years, combed her hair, took some money from under the matress ,and went to the florist's shop. While she was waking home with a lemon tree in a plastic pot, she almost bumped into a man.The tree was quite big and she couldn't see properly from behind the tree.

"Let me help you", said the man and he helped her to bring the tree home. She offered him some tea and they talked for a little while. The man was about the same age as she was, and he appeared a very interesting interlocuter. She laughed some times listening to him, and she thought she had forgotten even how to smile.

"May I come tomorrow to see how the tree is doing?", he asked leaving.

Later she learned the man owned both a cat and a dog...

Would she get used to the cat and the dog, or would they prevent her from developing a relationship? :))

She will of course. She is a changed person. The tree changed her. For a person to be loved by somebody, they need to start loving themselves...It's love that attracts love, gloom doesn't..:))

It was kind of a sad/happy story. :))

yes, with the happy ending..:))

:))
