Yesterday, I helped My Dear Friend:
I have not felt better in a long time as I feel now. Things are beginning to fall back in place for me. My mind is clear, my body is feeling much stronger and I am writing more regularly. My health has improved and I am so grateful to God Almighty.
Yesterday was a wonderful day. I took time to walk with my elderly friend, recently diagnosed in the early stages of Alzheimer Disease. We walked at a fast pace on the golf course close by for 2 hours. We then stopped for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Obviously distraught, she wanted to talk. I listened intently to her as she related in anguish her fear of the unknown.
I then encouraged her to focus on what she’s able to do from day to day, like the beautiful walk we just had and now sitting together, spending quality time. I reminded her to keep on loving herself and to entertain only positive thoughts, like the power of the mind to heal one self and to continue taking care of herself exercising, walking, socializing etc. By the time we were finished with lunch she was smiling and thanked me for being there for her. She said in her own words “I am so grateful to have you in my life you’re my angel and a blessing to me”. Immediately, I made a commitment to walk with her at least once a week and to keep in touch on a more regular basis. I realized how much she needs a friend.
Caring for the elderly is near and dear to my heart, it’s like caring for my own kids when they were young. I spent a morning bringing comfort to my friend in need. I will do it all over again.

Thanks for the word, may I add something that I know and been through with my Cancer my Pastor explain for me to do is to find about 10 Healing scripture in the Bible and Believe in your that you are Healed, just like when you get saved first you Believe in your Heart and you speak it out of your Mouth I wish the Best for you an Your Friend God Bless !!!
Such a lovely post, Vena. Those are the things in life that really count -- being there for others in their times of need. Not everyone has the patience and compassion to care for the elderly. It's wonderful God gives gifts like compassion to certain people to be His angels here on earth. Blessings to you, Diana.
Beautiful Post Vena: Your friend has a true friend. Alzheimer's is a tough and a lethal disease. They can now slow it down a bit but the results are never very satisfying. The interesting thing is that soon your friend will not remember much but her distant past. But you, will have wonderful years of remembering your friend and the nice things you did together. Hello Dan: You're absolutely right, there's no cure so far and progression can be cruel. For now we'll enjoy each day at a time and I'll hold on to the beautiful memory. Thanks for your kind words, they mean a lot.
