I did some research on how an artist should write their About Me page so I used the structure I found:

When?

  • When I was a little girl I drew pictures of the ea

That is a very good and compelling "About Me". You pull us into your personal universe, which is exactly what I think you should be doing as an artist with your About Me page.

Did you read the second draft my friends helped me with? That one is much better!

Yes! That is the one I was commenting on. It is much better and you fixed the contempt/content typo that I was going to mention!

Hi there! When I saw your question come up, I was expecting something completely different! I was expecting to find someone that really hadn't tried to create a captivating about me page, however I was totally wrong!

What you have written here is very interesting to me and I'm sure it will also be to a lot of people. I understand what you are saying here, however... Are you creating a blog as Varah Fae, or are you creating a blog as yourself and introducing Varah Fae? You start by saying that you are Varah Fae but then begin talking as "the real you". This type of blog I love and I can't wait to hear more from you. But we want to know about YOU the writer as well as Varah Fae the cosmic entity that exists in your personal universe.

Everything you have said here is fantastic! But as a future reader of your blog, I want to know who you are too.

Other than that, I think you have done a brilliant job so far. Your about me page doesn't have to be too long and I don't think this will take much completing.

All the best,

Andrew

Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad I shattered your expectations and you actually found my midnight ramblings to be intriguing. :)

I wanted to start off introducing myself then introducing myself as Varah Fae because that is my artist persona if that makes any sense. Much like Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana.

I wrote this late at night so it's backward lol. I'm going to rewrite and add to it so it makes more sense.

I really like what you have created here and I actually think the introduction of Varah Fae at the beginning makes this text captivating. Personally I would introduce the real you in the latter part of your page. But its your choice and your site. Glad to have helped you here.

Keep in touch!

Andrew

With the help of my friends, who are phenomenal writers, I have my 2nd draft:

I am Varah Fae.

Varah Fae is a cosmic entity that exists in my personal Universe. We communicate through meditation, yoga, and dreams. She sometimes sends me messages and inspiration through the clouds when I gaze. She wanders My Universe on the rogue planet called Nazo, where she first manifested. Or she explores My Universe off the planet as pure cosmic energy. Observing the complex beauty of the Universe I try to paint what she experiences as best I can.

For as long as I can remember I have been captivated by everything to do with space. As a child, I loved learning about the solar system and the galaxy in which we reside. It was my father who inspired my love of science and science fiction. He introduced me to all the big sci-fi movies and tv shows, like Star Wars and Star Trek, and also to real science on the Discovery channel. My love of art, however, came from within me. And so, it was the arts and science classes that were always my favorites in school.

First, I wanted to be an astronaut when I was little. But as I grew older I came to realize that I want to be--and am--an artist. But even though I loved art, I never considered making it my career when I thought of what I wanted to be when I grew up. My mother wanted me to choose something more stable, meaning secure but tedious. So I compromised and went to college for Game Art and Animation where I learned the photoshop skills I use to make my space art. College was also where I began to blog.

When I returned home, I started my career in Technology and I was content with that for a while. But, gradually I grew tired of the lack of creativity and finally decided one day on my lunch break to go buy some art supplies. When I got home that evening, I watched some painting tutorials which rekindled my love for art.

For a while, I was painting just to paint. After realizing how badly I wanted to make a living off my art I did some soul searching to find the real reason why I paint and why I'm an artist. Art is the one way I can express my emotions. I always thought deeply about why we humans do the things we do but I could never truly understand my own feelings. I've hidden them deep within myself so I could be what my parents wanted me to be. I didn't want to disappoint them. Painting helps me connect with these hidden feelings but only for a while. Art is my addiction and art is also my rehab.

I chose to use watercolor because of its free flowing and hard to control nature. It surprises you; sometimes good, sometimes bad. But you can always fix it. Watercolor likes to do what it wants and I like the challenge of taming it. Sacred Geometry fills the void where my religious faith would be. To me it feels more real than one deity ruling us all Instead, I believe everyone has their own personal Universe.

This is great! Very well written and just the right length for your about me page. Well done!

Nothing wrong with your draft but I would break up the blocks of text into smaller ones.

As a general rule people like to read in short bursts.

Depending on what your your niche is going to be you might add what the visitor can expect to see within your site.

Thank you! You make a good point, when I read long articles I'll sometimes take a break. I didn't realize that until now!

My niche is centered around my art and me as an artist. The front page will be a gallery of my art and when you click on a picture it will take you to an article explaining what the painting means, where my inspiration came from as well as the price to purchase.

I haven't quite figured out how I should structure the built-in shop on my website.

No probs - it will become more clear to you as your site develops and you have a clear objective/goal in mind just what your site should be like.
Remember at all times its not for you - you are the creator but its for other people to judge.
I'm off for the night now so maybe catch you some other time.
