When All is Lost - Keep Smiling

Hi folks,

I can't believe what just happened to me. I'm not going to moan and groan, rather I am writing this as a warning.

Being someone who has taken advantage of the WA SiteContent feature since it was first launched, I should have known better.

However, no matter the level of experience we each have, those hiccups can happen.

A short while ago I wrote about a pleasurable experience I had today. I thought to share it as anything happy in this difficult time we are all in is worthwhile sharing, I believe.

So, I completed my story and with the intention of transferring the content to my WA blog, I took action.

I did not click on 'Publish' as it was not being transferred to one of my websites. Instead, I chose Ctrl-A, and I still cannot believe that instead of selecting Ctrl-C, I selected Ctrl-V. This was not due to a lack of knowledge, it was simply an error.

All was gone!

No way could I access my newly created blog. Not a good feeling at all. I couldn't re-write it this evening. Maybe I'll attempt that tomorrow.

The moral of this story is TAKE CARE when you use SiteContent. At present, there is no way of recovering lost content.

Maybe that feature will be included at some stage. But, it is not available at present.

Enjoy Your Day and Stay Safe.

I lost my local cellphone number a few weeks ago through something similar, and I had to get a new one. I was giving my old iphone to my husband as I had a newer one, and once I hit the wrong thing I couldn't get my number back. GRRR. The bright spot was that after I sent out an email to family and friends, I got some nice emails from them and one nephew even called me.

Wow, losing a cellphone number would be rather disturbing, I imagine But, the upside of receiving nice emails and the call from your nephew no doubt made it all worthwhile.

Hi Valerie, i understand the feeling. I had a similar experience but the difference was i deleted the post which already published...Poof it was just gone and no way to get it back....Well learn from it and just be extra careful...
It's Ok just write a new one....;)
My best wishes to you.
Melanie

Thanks for your kind message, Melanie.
I'm sorry to learn that you deleted a published post. That would have been a nasty feeling! I agree that we learn from our mistakes, or carelessness. Neither of us will make that mistake again, I feel sure!
I will write a new post.
Thanks for you best wishes, and I wish the same for you.

Good Morning Valerie,

What a shame of all the work, understand you are irritated.
I write on Words, then put it on draft on one of my websites. It gets corrected, I put the photos, etc and then I copy/paste to WA.
I have been doing this from the beginning and I also use Words when writing for my website. I know it sounds a bit work intensive but I have a copy on Words if something goes wrong.
Yes, the best you can do is keep smiling. I hope you are keeping ok.

Stay safe and healthy,

Taetske

Good Evening Taetske,

Thanks very much for your comment. Before SiteContent I used Microsoft Word to create all content. Of recent times, I have been to and fro between Word and SiteContent. From now on I will create content in a similar manner to what you have explained.

What I lost today was not that important. It was just something nice I thought would be good to share, particularly due to the stressful time we are all living in.

However, had it been a lengthy post of more than 1000 words I would not have been smiling.

I doubt that many members use SiteContent now but I thought my misfortune was worth sharing, particularly for any new members.

You stay safe and healthy, too.

Valerie

Thanks for the heads up Valerie, appreciated.

Andy.

My pleasure, Andy.
Thanks very much for your comment.
