Use of the Embed Feature of YouTube Videos

Does anyone know if there has been a change to legality of embedding YouTube videos in our websites.

I have always had the understanding that if the 'Embed' feature is available with YouTube.com videos, we are welcome to use the videos freely.

Also, Jay has stated that more than once that if the Embed feature is available we are free to use the YouTube videos.

Today, I see there has been a change in accessing 'Embed'. The following warning notice is clearly set before our eyes! Previously there was no such warning.

"By embedding YouTube videos on your site, you are agreeing to YouTube API Terms of Service"

I would like to just go ahead and use videos that are free to embed. I wonder if that warning notice has always been there but not easily seen.

If you can help, I would appreciate hearing from you.

I do incorporate videos into my site. In WP I find that in the media files, adding the link to the video works perfectly. I make sure that the video content compliments the article.

That sounds great Lorrie.
Thanks so much for your comment :)

You're welcome

Thanks Valerie I've been meaning to investigate incorporating videos within my website and your query combined with Marion's training have been excellent!
Cheers Gina

I'm pleased it was helpful for you.
It was great that Marion had created that video recently, meaning since YouTube changed the process.
It was up-to-the-minute training.

Thanks so much for your comment Gina.

Interesting question.

Thanks Jim. Marion gave a good answer in her video, which was exactly on the subject right up to date.

The link is in her comment below if you are interested to watch.

I would contact/investigate You Tube to zero in on the nature of any changes. This is important for video training!

Hi Michael,
Marion provided a link to her recent training which was exactly what I was looking for. I feel there is no need to go any further.

Thanks for leaving your comment.

In my video I recommend reading the terms of service before embedding the video. . As long as you agree to the terms then you can go ahead and embed the video.

Marion,
Thanks so much for this training. It explains exactly what I was looking for. In effect it is a Terms of Service which must be read, as with any other legal document.
What made me doubt the Terms was because I had never encountered that before in YouTube. It must longer than I thought since I last embedded a video, as I saw your video was done in September. Wow, how the time flies.
Anway, thanks again Marion.

I am following to see answers on this. critical question. Thanks for asking Valerie. Jay

Hi Jay,
We are fortunate that Marion was able to lead us to her recent video on exactly the subject concerning me.

I've copied the link to Marion's video here. I think it would be good for you watch it, as it explains what we need to know. Thanks very much for leaving your comment.

Thank you very much. Jay

A pleasure. Thank you :)
