Time to Leave Comments on Website

Hi Folks,

Just interested in your experience with offering comments on websites through the Site Comments feature.

It's a few months since I've offered comments. However, I've continued to request comments and decided today was a good time to make a contribution, or two.

Unfortunately, my effort today achieved nothing due to a lack of time.

Previous negative experiences were:

  • Insufficient time to read a post and return to leave a comment. In a few instances, the post I had spent time reading was no longer available.
  • A post being rejected. My acceptance rate had been 100 per cent, but dropped to 99 percent. I put this down to writing a lower quality comment in the hope of not losing that post.

Thinking back to previous months of offering comments, some other members had remarked on having a similar experience with running out of time. There was some feedback that this would be dealt with.

Well, as already mentioned, regrettably my attempt to offer comments today ended negatively.

With previous experience still in mind, today I read the post as quickly as possible - returned to the appropriate place to leave a comment. The post was gone! Time again wasted!

Of course, I love very many things about WA, but I do have a problem with the Site Comment feature.

Have recent experiences been similar for you?

Would appreciate your feedback.

Hey Valerie,
I use to have the problem of being "timed out" until I began always just typing in a few greeting words. Then I could read the post without worry.

Tried and True

Elaine

Thanks so much Elaine. It's great to know what works for you with offering comments. I will do likewise :)

Valerie

I haven't had the experience of time running out. Didn't know it happened.

I'm pleased for you Russell.

Thanks for your comment :)

I did not realize there was a 'time out' on reading a post and then offering a comment. I have never had that issue and some posts have been long.

My beef is that sometimes, for whatever reason, I lose the post just when I am ready to make a comment and there is no way to get it back. If we could use our back button feature and get the site, that would be awesome! (I don't believe this is a ''time out" issue though because sometimes it happens in the very beginning) just as I am getting started.

Mary Ann

Thanks for your comment Mary Ann.

I'm not sure if it is 'time out' issue, but it was acknowledged as such by Kyle, some months back.

Whatever the issue, it is a waste of valuable time.

I had similar problems and then discovered a couple of week ago that site comments are automatically accepted. This was good news. It means that spending quality time on someone's website and then getting rejected is no longer a possibility.

What they do with that comment is up to them. Yes, they can delete it. But as long as I get credit in the WA platform - I can live with it.

That's great news Wendy. Thanks for the enlightenment. Fair enough that our comments are automatically accepted as we do our best to please at the expense of our valuable time. I too can live with what the member does with the comments!

Good Morning Wendy,

But it is a bore to go back and back again hoping to see your comment plus a reply on that website.

Good afternoon Valerie,

I know it is a bore, has happened to me too. I think I pressed the wrong thing somewhere and then the old is gone and you are presented with a new website.
Hope you are keeping well and your health has improved.

Good morning Taetske,

Thanks so much for your message. It sure is a dilemma we can do without!

Things are looking up in terms of health and more sunshine helps tremendously.

Greetings from New Zealand, Valerie

I am happy to hear you are feeling better Valerie!

p.s. finally rain, the last one was in April, my orange trees are happy.

Thank you, Taetske.

How wonderful it must be to receive rain after all those months without it. I can imagine how happy your orange trees are. Here's hoping they produce an abundance of delicious fruit, in season :)

Enjoy your weekend :)

Valerie

Good Morning Valerie,

There are 100 orange trees in total. The Washington Navel start in December and the Valencia in March till June. Like that, I have oranges for a big part of the year.
I also planted mandarins, grapefruit, and lemons in 1986.
I went organic in 1981 so one can use the peel also when making marmalade.

Good Morning Taetske,

Picturing all those wonderful orange trees makes my eyes light up and smile at the thought. In my fruit bowl this morning there are 4 oranges and 4 lemons although that number will be increased when I go shopping in the next few days. Each day I make a fruit salad which includes the juice of an orange. Love it!

Years ago my late husband and I had fruit trees growing on our property. It was a residential area, and space was limited. However, the trees were prolific and among several varieties were grapefruit and lemon trees. Those were the days :)

Well done to you for going organic.

Greetings from New Zealand. ~Valerie

Good Morning Valerie,

As I said to Wendy it is a bore to go back to that website many times to see if your comment has been published and hopefully also an answer.
I am sending you a Pinterest pin we made. There you can see little Jasmin, I saved her from the road on Sept. 9th, 2013, and some of the orange trees in the background.

Hi Valerie. Sorry you got timed out. I find that if I type an opening sentence and then I can take my time reading/ reviewing what I want to. I find one sentence is enough to make sure that I dont get timed out.
I have had comment credits returned unused in the past few months.
I have had comments rejected by members for reasons I dont agree with - for example one comment was rejected for summarizing the article .....huh?
Another comment was rejected because I used their seo keywords as part of my comments....huh?

Good afternoon Glenys,

Hey, that is a good tip, write the first sentence and like that secure your position, have to remember that, gracias.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hi Glenys, Thanks so much for your helpful information. I can easily type a sentence to secure the action of commenting. That will make a huge difference to my 'thoughts' in respect to leaving comments.

It is incredible how ungrateful some can be with comments received. So what, if you used their seo keywords! All keywords are available for everyone to use. I'm really sorry to learn of that happening to you.

Thanks again.
Greatly appreciated :)
