How You Can Overcome Writers Block

Hi folks,

A hour or so ago I read a most inspiring post written by Pastor Derry. This post so enlightened me that I just had to take myself off to SiteContent and start writing.

I have followed the stated rules, as closely as possible for this first attempt. Pastor Derry, in his blog, advises to read different sources as a starting point. However, I found his article alone adequate to get myself started with a long overdue post.

So, I asked myself the question - Why is it that creating content is something I find difficult to do these days? For goodness’ sake, how can I possibly expect to be a successful blogger if I find myself stuck for words when sitting at the computer.

  • Is it the keyboard that is scary?
  • Maybe I have the room too light or too dark to see the screen.
  • Or, perhaps I am suffering from a phobia of some kind.

Yeah, on thinking for about 2 or 3 minutes I decided that it surely must be a phobia. So, when I looked up phobia in my Merriam-Webster dictionary it tells me the meaning is:

: an exaggerated usually inexplicable and illogical fear of a particular object, class of objects, or situation

I found that explanation to be scary. How could I possibly be fearful of my computer, being the object; or situation, having written and published content within my own office for the past 10 years, or longer.

Therefore, it can't be a phobia I'm suffering from. So, back to Merriam-Webster to see if I can find the answer to this abysmal situation.

Due to using the word abysmal, I thought it wise to clarify the meaning. So here it is:

: having immense or fathomless extension downward, backward, or inward

Goodness, gracious, I cannot put myself in a class so debilitating as that. In fact, I took umbrage at myself for allowing a condition such as a fathomless extension in any direction to enter my space, mind or whatever!

Have I allowed my daily round to be so mundane that all ideas have dried up. No enlightenment, no exploration outside of my bubble allowed. But, do I not have the world at my finger tips? I most certainly do. There is the world-wide web sitting on my desktop, laptop, mobile phone, tablet and a portion to view from my lounge window.

I have family and friends to speak with on the phone, be it landline or mobile.

Therefore, I will no longer allow myself to dwell in the misanthropic manner that has been haunting me for far too long.

: misanthropic meaning: having or showing a deep distrust of human beings and their motives

It could be that misanthropic is not suitable in that sentence, but I just had to use it because it sounded good!!

I mean to say, how could I be distrusting of the circles I have involved myself in. Absolutely no way do I distrust any one of my friends be they online or physically viewable.

Without the Wealthy Affiliate community in my life I'm not sure what I could do to enjoy each day, particularly at this time of lock-down. My WA friends are my inspiration. Clearly, as mentioned above, the inspiration for this content came from a Wealthy Affiliate member, Pastor Derry.

From this day forward, I will explore the rose-coloured atmosphere to be viewed and experienced whichever direction I turn to.

As WA members we are so fortunate that people willingly share and help one another.

A big 'Thank You' to Pastor Derry. And I hope that anyone experiencing difficulty with writers block will read the post he published today. Please see the link below.

Thanks Valerie, you have used some great words there. Love the blog. Thanks Jen

Thanks so much for your response, Jennifer. It's good to know that you enjoyed the blog.

Valerie

Good Morning Valerie,

You really made me laugh with all these special expressions. I think you are completely normal so I would not worry.
You are right, we have the whole world at our fingertips, a world bursting with news and inspiration.
On my desk I have a file with articles I read that might inspire me to write a post. It is of course a bore that no newspapers or magazines have been available for nearly 2 months.
On my computer I have many labels where I keep interesting things so actually there is enough material to write about.
Keep the spirits up Valerie, this will also pass.

Stay safe and healthy,

Taetske

Good Afternoon Taetske,

I'm pleased that my post made you laugh. It's not like me to write in a style such as that post. It just shows what a lock-down is capable of doing to one who is usually hesitant with her writing.

I feel sure I would find much to write about if I were to visit some of the files on my computer. And, thanks for the reminder.

You stay safe and healthy, too.

Valerie

Thanks for sharing, Valerie.
Pastor Derry writes good posts.
I myself have not loaded any content to my website since Jan 15th.
Due to other business operations, moving house, and COVID this has put me behind.
The good news is this week I am back putting content together.
All the best and have a great rest of the week.
Darren :)

Thanks very much for your comment, Darren.
I have not attended to my affiliate site since last December and hope to get back to it very soon.
I have done some work on a niche site. Although this year appears to be moving quickly, unfortunately, I'm not doing likewise.

It sounds as though you have had an extremely busy time. I'm pleased that you are able to start moving forward this week.

Take care,
Valerie

Thanks, Valerie.
I wish you the very best and yes, this year is going quickly.
Darren :)
