Does Anyone Have Success With the AMP Plugin.

Early this year I installed the AMP plugin and deleted it a few days later due to a drop in visitors to my site.

However, over several months I've seen recommendation from Google to use AMP as it helps with mobile traffic.

Thinking I may have been hasty in my decision to delete AMP, I reinstalled it a week ago. Prior to reinstalling AMP I watched Jay's video to make sure I configured the plugin correctly.

So again I have deleted AMP, as over the past week my traffic dropped by almost 100 visitors.

I can see the value to using AMP when it comes to mobile visitors, as they can view posts without the sidebar appearing.

But, AMP doesn't work for me, and I am interested to know whether AMP is helpful to other members' websites.

Enjoy your wonderful life. It is precious!

if your visitors dropped that dramatically then probably a sound decision to lose the plugin. just makes sense.

I did delete the plugin and immediately the traffic increased.
I realize it would be polite of me to do a short post advising of the recovery. I will do that soon. So much going on at present!

Seems like a dodgy plugin. Hopefully there are better substitutes out there!

Thanks Michael. I've come the conclusion of the least plugins, the better results!

I may be wrong, but there seem to be two versions. I haven't really explored that myself, but I have seen people discussing AMP and AMP for WordPress as if they are two different plugins. I had the version that was recommended by Jay, which as far as I recall was named AMP for WordPress.

At first it seemed to make a big difference in my speed, which I liked, as this was pre-SiteSpeed. Once SiteSpeed came out, I asked if it was still necessary and received conflicting responses, but most people said it wasn't necessary and many were saying they were experiencing issues with it, so ultimately I deleted it.

My site's speed seems to have dropped, though I don't always trust the results when I test it, as when I actually visit the site, it seems very fast most of the time.

I haven't seen an effect on traffic, but then again, I don't have large numbers of visitors. It could probably reduce my traffic by 25% and I wouldn't notice right away...

Of course, if there are two versions, I may be discussing a different one that you are.

Thanks very much Craig for sharing your experience with AMP for WordPress.

AMP for WordPress is the plugin I installed. I should have been more explicit with my description.

I had heard of using both AMP and AMP for WordPress, but Jay's training was about AMP for WordPress only.

My main reason for installing the plugin last week was due to the slowness of one of my websites. The speed of one website is great - all Green. But the speed of my website that is an earner, is drastic in spite of using SiteSpeed.

Again Craig, thank you for your comment. I will leave AMP for WordPress alone and look for alternative solutions for my slow website.

Out of curiosity, when you say one site is slow, is that based on a test score? As I mentioned, I have a site that shows red (I forget the actual scrore), but when visited (even Incognito, or on a new device) it is actually pretty fast in my opinion. That's why I don't always trust the test scores.

Yes Craig, the slowness of the site is based on test scores from both Google Site Speed and GtMetrix. One problem is how I can optimize Amazon images and Gravatars. They are all on URLs and not jpg etc. I intend to look at the EWWW plugin as that might help. Otherwise I will contact Site Support to see if they have answers.
I've just tried testing the site incognito and it wasn't all that slow, but certainly not instant. However, that could be due to NZ's broadband. It was pathetic a few years ago, but the powers-that-be having been working on it for about two years. Whether my service provider is powerful enough, I doubt very much. There are so many things to consider with internet/website speed. It's very tiring and time consuming!
Thanks for your interest Craig. I appreciate It :)

I'm not familiar with it.

Thanks Connie.

Jovo had it installed and deactivated it again too, I believe, he wrote several blogs about it

Thank you Loes. That was very helpful :)

Good Morning Valery,

No, I do not use this Plugin as I would want people to see my sidebar to start with.Have you seen my last WA post, I only write one a month. A lot of people have followed the advice of Marion as that is a good thing to add to your website.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Good evening Taetske.

Thanks for your response to my query.
No, I haven't seen your last WA post. I will look for it tomorrow.

Valerie
