Did I Hear You Say Patience.!

Wow…. was my patience tried today. It certainly was. And not only today, last night too!

What time did I go to bed? So late, that I don’t wish to record it.

If you are wondering what this is all about, it was just that I wanted to access my Skype account.

Of course, I take full responsibility for the time I wasted, because taking responsibility for our own demeanour is just simply what one should do. Although, just on the quiet, thoughts were running wild such as why do these online programs make it so difficult! Do they not want customers?

You see, at a guess, it was about ten years ago when I opened my Skype account. Am I really expected to be able to locate my Skype password from ten years ago?
I don’t remember needing a password for Skype way back then! No doubt I had one, but it was never asked for when I went into Skype. Certainly not that I remember! Skype was just one of those things. I clicked on the icon and hey presto, there was Skype.

Not so any longer. I went through so many processes last night. In desperation I tried logging in through Facebook only to find that Skype wanted access to all my friends, as well as my foes! That was not on! I respect my Facebook friends far too much for that sort of practice.

It seemed that the only remedy would be to open a new account. I proceeded to do that. An hour later I couldn’t access my new account!

By this time my patience had worn rather thin!

With some effort I accessed Live Chat. Oh, what a relief. Fortunately the Help person was patient and waited until I typed my problem in fine detail!

This was followed by some activity between the two of us for a while. Then, approximately twenty minutes later I had access to my new Skype account.

So the lesson I learned from this experience is:

  • To keep my passwords forever!
  • To always be polite, even when stresses are running high!
  • To have patience with anyone who is attempting to resolve a problem. Those people are doing a job, and the woman dealing with my problem today was excellent.

The act of patience can be forgotten in times of stress. The benefit of being patient is so much greater than the alternative.

Wishing you a happy day.

Enjoy your wonderful life. It is precious!

Hello Valerie.

I see you also had your share of irritation.
I am a bull, they normally have a lot of patience, my problem is I do not have it with machines/systems, probably too old fashioned for this modern time.
You told me you live in NZ. There might be the possibility I end up there caused by the last big change in my life. Or the new house is somewhere in the area where I now live or it is going to be in a new country, let's see what will happen.
I wish you a peaceful new day.

Hello Taetske

Great to hear from you again. It's interesting that you may move to New Zealand. No doubt you have much to consider. I look forward to learning more as you make your decision.

Wishing you a wonderful day, and weekend, if we don't catch up before your weekend. It's Friday afternoon here!

All the best :)
Valerie

It's very satisfying when you get it all sorted out...good job!

True Arthur. It's just the time it takes to get there! Thank you for leaving your comment :)

It can be so frustrating when things don't pan out Valerie, so pleased that you got things sorted.

It was an amazingly long process, but was good to get there in the end.
Thanks so much for commenting :)

I definately understand how patience at times can be very hard to find, when dealing with the joys of technology. good on you for still having it and persisting.

Thanks so much Sharon for your comment. As you say - The Joy's of Technology! They can leave us lots for words at times!

someone said..." Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting"..

Absolutely true Bosco. Attitude is a favorite of mine too!
Thanks very much for your comment :)

Thank you for the lesson. We all need to be reminded of what being Patient is and how for one simple at can help.

My pleasure Wendy. And thank you very much for leaving your comment :)

There is surely is a lesson to be learned. Being patience is something we all need to enclude in our everyday walk in life. I have learned alot from your experience. Thanks for sharing!

My pleasure Louisa.
Thank you for reading and leaving your comment :)

You are welcome!

It's true. Especially hard work, needs discipline and patience to develop. Problem needs patience to trouble-shoot and resolve. I spent hours tried logging into my skype once, and I even requested password change, but eventually still failed. Skype having this problem ever since MS acquisition, especially when you logging from tablet or palmtop, you have to keep logging in a few time and suddenly Wah-la, it works.

Thank you Kkww for your comment. I was pleased to read your experience and that you mention MS. I hadn't remembered MS being involved so that answers my queries. It was very strange, but I hadn't used Skype for about two years and thought it was just an update. But it was more than that. It was MS.

You're welcome Valerie.Yes you should update your Skype account if you wanna continue using Skype. MS trying to transfer and integrate Skype users into MS user base. You can now login with your MSN account if you have one.

I'm not sure that I have an MSN account, but thanks for letting me know. I'll make a note of it :)

Great post Valerie! and more importantly the message :)
