Are You a Good Listener?
Paying attention to those who are speaking is an action often overlooked.
There is nothing more disheartening to a speaker than knowing they are not being listened too.
A good listener is the one who learns the important facts!
Being left wondering is not advantageous!
Have a great day
Enjoy your wonderful life. It is precious!

Hi Valerie, I think you have 'hit a nail on a head' with this post! In my line of work I find myself constantly astounded how many people just plough in with an opinion, when it is quite evident by their comments that they hadn't listened to what was being discussed originally. Then it takes time and effort to diplomatically go back to the beginning and persuade them that their opinion sadly wasn't relevant... and start again! Sue :)
Absolutely Sue. It's a real time waster when people behave in that way.
Thanks very much for your comment :)
Hi Valerie excellent point of view, I think that so many dramas would not develop to where they sometimes go if we learned to listen, and the other plus we can learn so much if we listen to the speaker, someone famous said communication is 90% listening, thank you.
Absolutely Alexander. There would be less misunderstandings if people would commit to listening fully to what the other person is saying. Thanks very much for your comment :)
I read recently...do you listen to respond or do you listen to understand? I've been working a lot on this. Thank you for your reminder, Valerie.

hi valerie, Iam actually a great listener my biggest problem is socializing back to what i listen to. I dont know if you would say im shy, quite, unsociable not sure what i would call it but I never have been a real sociable person. However i am finding it alot more easy to socialize with people online than i do in person. Like i said i am a great listener i will listen to your life story if you where to tell it to me. Just not the type of person that will start up a conversation or even keep one going. it is a bad habbit that i need to break myself out of. look forward to speaking with you more. thanks for the support.
I understand what you say Michael. I have been rather like you. I have always stood back and left the talking to others. I was the one who experienced people not listening to me when I took the trouble to join in on a conversation. I could guarantee that someone else would talk over me. It was very hurtful! That's why this quote of Jim Rohn's took my attention!
I've never been good at participating in social media, particularly Facebook. I can't see the sense in photographing meals and uploading for the world to see.
My first months with WA were not easy for me with writing blogs, but I persevered and now I just go with the flow, so to speak. WA offers great opportunity for extending ourselves by writing and posting our thoughts
Thanks so much for your comment. I appreciated it greatly :)
I love listening.. Because when I do speak, those that know me well, stop what they are doing because they know I don't speak unless I know what I'm talking about. No. BS from me.
Hi Valerie this is a great point! I have been trying to become a better listener and it takes time!
