Another Amazon Pleasant Surprise
When I logged into Amazon this morning I was pleasantly surprised to see the commission I earned yesterday.
I thought this could be helpful information for those members who are new, or near to new Amazon affiliates.
The commission I earned yesterday certainly wasn’t a huge amount. However, it was greater than normal.
Pet Supplies is my Amazon category and although the commission is 8 per cent, due to most products being inexpensive, individual commissions are quite small. The largest since commission rates were changed, being $4.20 and that has been once only.
So Today – I was surprised to see commission earned yesterday was $9.38 for only two sales.
One in Pet Supplies of $1.28
The second in the Home and Kitchen category was $8.10. This was for the purchase of a Caste Iron Saucepan.
Home and Kitchen commissions are 4.5 per cent which doesn’t sound all that wonderful. But due to the greater cost of items, the commissions paid are higher.
This may be something to consider if you are new to Amazon or intending to try a different niche as an Amazon affiliate.
Of course there is always the chance that someone will visit a different category while browsing Amazon from your site, as happened for me yesterday, but that doesn't occur regularly.
So, that is some food for thought. And, my thoughts for quite a while have been leading towards a more profitable Amazon category. Why not, as it's a similar amount of work whatever we are promoting!

Thanks for sharing Valerie ever bit of info always helps newbies like me in one way or another.
My question to you is do you have different websites with different niches thereby having different Amazon links or is it just that your posts/blogs have different content thereby requiring different Amazon product links?
Cheers Gina
Thanks so much for your message Gina, and I'm pleased to be of help.
In answer to your question, I have two websites in different niches. One is about dogs so the links are to different dog products on different posts.
The other site is about Christmas so the links are appropriate to each post. For instance, Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, gifts, toys, etc.
I just have one Amazon Associate account which serves both websites. I did a training about inserting Amazon product links into posts. You might it helpful. But if you need more help, I'm happy to assist. Just let me know. How To Insert Amazon Product Images Into Websites Cheers :)
