Design for Your Audience
My first audiences for all the sites I designed were for men. My sites looked very masculine; in the lines, colors and content. When my friend hired me to build her a site, it seemed I had a very hard time pleasing her.
I finally said, 'What do you find wrong with them?'
She answered, completely honest, 'They are all so masculine!'
I designed some more, with her sites audience in mind then, she loved them and eventually- together- we created a site that she loved.
The second site I created for a woman, I remembered my lesson. She cried when I introduced it to her.
I am writing this, to remind myself and you; to remember your audience when you create. Female or male, each has certain colors that trigger emotion.
Here are some colors and the emotions they trigger:
RED- Passion, action, aggressiveness, danger. (Use it as decorative touch, a highlight)
BLUE - Trust, reservation, harmony, friendship, faithfulness, love, affection. (Notice that most social networks use this color)
GREEN- Hope, nature, youth, desire, rest, balance. (Also, the color of money. And green means 'Go')
YELLOW- Laughter, pleasure. (There are many tones of yellow, that can convey different energy)
ORANGE- Party, pleasure, sunshine, dawn, delight.
PINK- Sweetness, good feelings, ingenuousness, absence of bad.
PURPLE - Calm, self-control, dignity, violence, anger, betrayal.
WHITE- Innocence, peace, being an infant, stability, absolute calm and harmony. Great background color.
BLACK- Separation, sadness, night, serenity, nobility, regrets. (Never use this as a background color. It is very hard to read and will separate the interest from your reader immediately.)
GRAY/ BEIGE- Boredom, past, elderly, lack of will, lack of determination. Use these for background colors.

Interesting stuff as always. Reminds me of a programme I saw where they had a guy lifting weights. When he looked at red he was lifting away, looked at pink and couldn't do it! Whether it was fake idk.
Color is magical. It's an aura, that everyone has... people tend to gravitate towards the 'positive'.
Thank you!
