What does it take to be successful?
I think the biggest and most important ingredient which is often not made the most important is believing in yourself!
Especially when things are not working out. At these points in your life no amount of positive thinking or wonderful quotes or pats on the back will help. They might cheer you up for a while but then you have to get back to reality......your life!
What do you do when this happens..............work harder!
There is a reason why only a small percentage make it in business and have an income that will allow them the freedom to do as they please, That is, an unshakeable faith in themselves in spite of everything falling down around them!
Another important criteria is having a business plan or plan to work from. Writing down your financial goals are all fine and dandy but if you do not have a plan on how you are going to get there you will be paddling crazily in the middle of the lake going nowhere......this kind of working is hard, tiring and demotivating!
So here are some suggestions:
Sit down with a pad and pen...push the computer to one side and write.
Training tapes - 1 hour (here you put a realistic time you are willing to spend on this)
Web building - 1/2 hour (as above)
Blog/post writing - 20 mins (ditto)
Responding to emails and or comments - 1/2 hour
Researching your chosen field - 1/2 hour
Checking which affiliate sites matches your criteria - 20 mins
These are only a few of the things that you may need to do. Then how much do you think you would earn doing this daily, every two days, once a week etc, etc....
Doing this daily for one year might give you an income of, at a rough guess $200 per month at the end of the first year ($200 for a whole years work if you are lucky), the second year could be the same but what happens eventually is then it will grow exponentially for the years after that! Think of it as going to college, you are paying for your tuition and working towards a degree. You actually pay to go to college/university to gain the skills to become a professional
So I think the three most important tools you need are;
1, Self-confidence (you will definitely make it in spite of your doubts or nobody else believes in you)
2. A plan (you tick off the activities daily that you have followed your plan)
3, Consistency (you persevere no matter how you feel that day)
Anyhoo although I didn't mention it "have fun".....LOL! I'm sure reading all this is quite depressing but it is not as depressing as not succeeding!
Enjoy your day and go for a walk...........

As usual, a great contribution. Thank you very much. For me it is not depressing, if not the opposite. An inheritance, lottery, be political or rob a bank gives wealth without effort. Well, robbing a bank is not so easy. Why politicians do ... lol !!!
I prefer to know that this is hard work, patience, persistence and faith in oneself.
Very logical plan for sure. Thanks for sharing! I'm going to ponder this today myself and get moving!
Spot on, I have survived this far with my lists! I have also had to learn 'flexibility', if I miss something it goes at the top of the next days tasks... so I can't shirk stuff I don't like! Self discipline (it mostly works!) :)
Because as John says in the comments below, we don't have anyone looking over our shoulder it means we can only rely on ourselves to be disciplined!
I have been pondering this today Michael when we get to a certain point I am sure we develop an unshakable faith that what we are doing is the right course of action so much so that it almost takes on a life of its own. It almost moves beyond thinking if that makes sense.
The three points are bang on plus having fun along the way and taking breaks.
Not so sure about the work harder aspect, I think I would change it to working smarter, but then when in the heat of battle that can go flying out the window and hard work kicks in. Think I might go for a night ride awesome. That was an excellent post, my friend.
The reason I say harder is because usually that is how you get smarter. Wonderful to have you here Alexander!
Good point, smarter as in knowledge gained from the hard work I think I had a light bulb moment today lol.
The issue is disipline, can you keep turning up day after day with no one looking over your shoulder, no one driving you. This is were I struggle. Great at starting but not great at repeatedly executing.
You are so right Michael, having a plan in place and ticking things off appeals to most of us. And the idea that it's like a degree you are working towards for the future is something a lot of people, who seem to think they can get rick quick, should be following.
Enjoy the good ole' British sunshine while you get the opportunity! have a great day my friend :)
Thank you so much Jude, it always brighten my day when I hear from you no matter the weather! :)
Quick is a relative term anyway. Compared to the age of the universe the time it will take us to get rich quick, is incontestably small!
Look I know you are immortal...lol. But for the rest of us baby boomers we want this yesterday!
LOL - Matter is neither created nor destroyed it only changes form. :-) So if you don't become rich as a human, maybe it will work faster as a tree? :-)
I was hoping I'd be a tentacled alien where money has no meaning and everyone lives in bliss....lol!
You are rIght, Michael, I even hate to admit to what degree you are right...Business needs discipline- it's all about it...The worst people in business (though, can we say they are in business? OK, trying their hand at business)are creative personalities waiting for inspiration or some sign from above... lol There's nothing else to say to it...Thanks for the post...:)
Vera
Ok, ok... and can you tell me honestly, you being a creative personality, do you do what you preach? (being just curious..) :)
it's just an expression- "Do what you preach" which means "Do yourself what you are saying to others"........... lol!
Obviously I don't read very well,,,lol ! I am more disciplined than most....but I also need a kick up the you know what!
Still there are some things that I question... that is do we really need all these kicks, etc....But have to be off for work... Great talking to you...:) Enjoy your day!
