3 Rules for Success - Rule 1

When you are building any kind of business there are things you need to understand

Rule 1. Trust

You will have heard this a number of times but what does that actually mean?

When you first start out in online marketing you are nobody (not really but you know what I mean?).

Nobody knows you from a bar of soap so they have every right to mistrust you. You could be a fly-by-night business, a scammer, who knows?

So first you have to build trust. This takes the longest time but gives the greatest rewards.

How do you build trust?

This sounds like a cliche but by creating great content on your website. The more you create the more people will get an insight into how you think. What your fears are, your likes and your loves.

People do judge you on your writing, but don't be scared. Everything you write will attract your kind of audience with your sense of humour, likes and loves etc.

So you keep writing and writing and writing and writing until eventually Google sees that you are being a useful member of the online community and eventually people will start to read what you have written and possibly share it with their friends.

Once you start gaining trust, your audience will increase and before long you will have your own followers, following you because you have captured their hearts.

What you write is not as important as how you write. Writing from the heart is always the best way, that way people get to know you. They want to know what makes you tick.

You may think you have nothing worth writing about.

But you do. You probably live in a place that not many people know about, talk about it. You have had odd things happen to you, talk about them, that will resonate with others who may have had the same experience. You have seen things other's haven't seen.

You have no idea how interesting your life is until you write about it. You will have opinions about products that other's don't have. The list is endless, let your imagination go wild. You are allowed to embellish, but stick with the truth, (it's what Reality TV is all about, not about the truth though, lol !) see the bigger picture of your life.

Start building trust, this will be an ongoing concern in your business.

Tomorrow I will talk about Engagement, my second rule.

3 Rules for Success - Rule 2

I hope you are all having the best weekend

Nice to read my friend

Thanks, Paul.

Thanks for sharing. This is one of many educational, sincere, trustworthy and inspiring blogs I've read this morning. What a way to start off my day!

I am glad to hear that Marsha, enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Keith.

OK, thanks for this.

Thanks, John.

Ok, point taken!!
You are right, I spend way too long worrying about what to write, does it make sense, will people appreciate it, on and on... and end up not writing anything. Off to sharpen my pencils and shake up my brain cells... but with a time limit of an hour to come up with something. I have to trust myself before anyone else will believe in me! Thanks Sue :)

Hi Sue

So write about how worried you are about writing, this is a good topic believe it or not! :)
Many people are going to relate and become interested how they can find a way to get over writers block or lack of ideas on what to write. Just write and LET IT GO sometimes, it might work for you.

Plus, you are the only one who can tell your story and your opinions. Thanks, Sue, you have work to do.

Great post.

I see many people fretting about their supposed lack of writing skill, but as you said, that doesn't matter that much. Yes it's the internet and people love to criticize, but there will always be those who don't care about little errors and just want to hear what you have to say.

True, and we all have something to say that no one else can, that's what makes us unique. Thanks, Craig!

Excellent point, Michael. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Tessa.

Thanks for the advice, Michael!

You're welcome, Rebecca.

Thank you for your excellent blog post Michael, trust is definitely important in life, for an online business or an off-line business. And as you mention, I believe everyone has certain qualities and values and something good to write about!

Have a great weekend Michael, Roy.

Thanks, Roy, you have come to the same realisation too.

You have a great weekend.
