Hi - have you actually joined any affiliate programs? If so, they should supply the images. Amazon supplies you with one image for each product you wish to promote.

Yes, I recently joined the Amazon program after letting my site sit for a few months with regular blog content. The problem is, it's a singular image and it's in HTML format. I still need a featured image for the blog itself and even if I found that, only having one image on the review article is far below what other reviewers of similar content are doing. And as I said, they're all using the exact same set of images, so I'm honestly not sure what I'm missing here.

I was poking around in google search console earlier and google is telling me I have these invalid items detected on my pages.

Hey Tyler,

When Google searching one of the error messages you received:
missing field 'description' (optional)
...the following forum discussion was listed as number one in my search results: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/warnings-from-google-search-console/

So, by the look of all of error messages that you are receiving, I would guess that this is being caused by a plugin. My first guess was perhaps Woocommerce (which was found listed number 2 in my search results).

It will be easier for you to determine WHICH plugin you have installed that is causing these error messages by Google searching each error prompt.

Once you discover the guilty plugin, you may even find a solution to solve these too.

Hope you find this helpful.

I stumbled across a few forum threads discussing indexing and verifying your content through the google search console. This is something that I feel really should be explained

Marion has done the best training I know for newbies to verify their website

I wish I could follow this video, but it says I need to get my FTP username and password to do it. Unfortunately my password is hidden from even me. It just says ****** (Hidden for X days).

If you can access the code for verifying your site within your Google Console then you just have to insert it in your Header php.

I don't know if this is the code you're talking about. I'm also unsure what you mean by Header php.

That is one such code and there is another one that's much bigger but that will do for now and you only enter part of it for verification.

Have a look at my pic to see what I mean.

My code didn't look anything like your own. I tried it, and as I suspected it didn't work at all. I'm still just as confused as when I started because none of these tutorials show me what to do with the new google search console UI.

Ok one last try.

When you login to your GC go down to the bottom of the left side of the page and you will see the words

go to the old version

Next page

click on the little Cog Wheel dropdown top right and then Verification Details

You can either click on

Details

or

Verify using a different method.

One of those methods will surely enable you to verify your site or I'm a monkeys uncle.

Thank you! That finally worked. Sorry for the hassle, but I'm glad I got this done. It's been wasting a lot of my day.

Good to know I'm not a monkeys uncle lol

Verifying can be a pain if you're new to the game but remember that old version for the future and if all else fails use it but I don't know how long Google will allow access to it.

Happy to help and you get stuck again, you get in touch.

Robert

Hi - regardless of how good your keyword is, Google views all new sites with suspicion and is unlikely to rank you highly to start with.

Although your site as a whole has been indexed, have the actual articles themselves? They all get indexed individually, and until they are, you won't be able to find them.

Have you asked for comments on your posts? That lets Google see that you have visitor engagement. Or would you like some feedback to ensure you are on the right track?

Hi Tyler, if there is anything about affiliate marketing that you should know is that it takes time. I have been here 13 months...no income yet.

I do not necessarily expect fast results either. I don't add content to my site as fast as some here. But that's the beauty of this business, you build it as fast or slow as you choose.

Alex hit the nail on the head with his comments below. I might add that the authority he refers to will grow gradually. Remember that you are new and there are websites out there that may have been in your same niche for years.

That's the competition and you have to be better than them or prove you have just as much authority in your chosen niche as they do.

Google won't recognize that until you have more posts on your site...and you are consistent with it. One day you will suddenly start getting traffic and when you do, all this beginning time period will be but a blink to you.

The biggest take away to this is being patient.

I wish you the best!

Bob M

Your frustration isn't uncommon. Google is a bitch! Keep keeping on. Things will improve. Devote to your website's message and Google will realize you have authority,

Like the other's have said give it time. Your articles will start popping up in the SERPs. Have faith in the training it works!

Hi Tyler, you probably have a little inkling from your eBay and Amazon days.

They are hard, arena's to play in, you can be selling product and then folks turn up with the same product and then it is a race to the bottom as everyone ends up commenting on price, in order to shift their product, end of the day it is not viable to continue, without reinvention.

It takes time to carve out a position, and it takes just as much time defending that position.

Affiliate marketing is no different, so it takes a little time to create that position, and we do it through the content that we produce.

In the beginning, no one knows you, and Google doesn't know who you are.

Thus far, it has been 22 days, give it some time keep on creating content and as everyone will keep telling you keep doing that training applying what you learn and let it run.

It is the same as this post a few will comment, the more you engage, the more will engage back. It is the same as your website; we have to build a position.

That takes work and time.

Try not to get discouraged; one of the traps is to be focused on visitors continually.

Once again, it is just a matter of building; the training leads you to step by step through that process. Just follow along, and that can be the hardest thing to do at times.

Best wishes.

Thank you for the feedback and the encouraging words. Coming in from the reselling point of view, I know I won't be making money as quickly as I did then, but I'm definitely wanting a more reliable and long term stretch of income.

I'll keep working at it and hopefully things will turn around for me soon.

I wouldn't be concerned. I am pretty much in the same boat. I have recently set up Google Adsense, and have made one cent. I'm ecstatic with my one cent. If I can make on I can make ten and so on. If you keep going and get everything set up the money will come. guaranteed. Keep at it! It will work..

Thank you for the feedback and letting me know it's working for you!

Hi,
Google probably hasn't indexed your site yet. My first site took about a month to be indexed. I try keep adding stuff as much as possible. Your site should show up more and more from searches.

Hope this helps and if anyone can agree or disagree that would help too.

Thanks
Steve

Thank you for the reply but that isn't the issue. WA informed me that my site ranked almost three weeks ago. Google definitely knows I exist. I'm not expecting to be on the front page or anything. I know I just started, but not even on the first 50 pages on a keyword with 12 QSR? Am I missing something here?
