Yosemite Sam And Serendipity Steve.

“I’m the hootinst, tootinist, shootinist bobtail wildcat in the west!” If ever I needed a great opening line for a post, that's it right there. Yosemite Sam and Serendipity Steve go well together. Like Abbott and Costello, Morecambe and Wise or Simon and Garfunkel. 'Serendipity Steve' I do like that.

Now I think of it, that has some legs as far as writing a short, something or other. A whole series of sketches where unbelievable coincidences happen. Actually, let's leave it be, at least for the for the time being, there's plenty enough to be getting on with, without adding more to it.

So, what has Yosemite Sam got to do with the price of bread ? Nothing whatsoever, is the short answer. I was just trying to think of a decent, catchy and intriguing title, and as soon as I said the word 'serendipity' in my head, it felt like it needed a name on the end of it. Maybe it was the 'dipity' that made me think of 'deputy'. Then, of course, you have Deputy Dawg, which was a little bit before my time, honest.

Serendipity is the name of the game and should have been the subject matter for yesterday's

post. Instead, you ended up with 'The blog that never was' which quite obviously, it wasn't, or was it ?

Call it coincidence if you like, personally I like to think it's more than that. Of late I'm even more inclined to believe that. After the first bout of happenings that I posted about, Fran and Jules, both suggested reading 'The Celestine Prophecy'. Not wanting to pass up a favoured read from trusted sources, I did so. No need to write a book review here, suffice it to say, it was an enlightening read.

One of the chapters talked about how the 'signs' are out there but we need to recognise them. From my own standpoint, I have been working hard on sending out some relevant positive thoughts, I mean, I've been tuned to VHF an dsometimes UHF. That was sketchy.

There are areas in my life that I need to improve upon, the remaining facets for me to be able to move into the next stage of everything that I'm working on. That's not meant to sound cryptic, just that it's hard to try to explain with out complicating the issue, so I won't.

Self-improvement is never a bad thing, in my opinion, if it helps towards the ultimate goal of being successful. So, I found a course I liked the look of, that should help with creating a positive mindset. Lovely.

I think it's meant to last sixty or ninety days, not sure which, I'm currently on day three and so far, I like the cut of his jib.

As we know, there are a gazillion courses of this type dancing the happy dance on the internet dance floor. Some good, some bad but plenty there are. So imagine my surprise when during a session on Site Comments, one of the reviews was for the exact same course. Well, knock me down with a feather. Kinda blew me away, a touch.

Now, this was all serendipitous and all that but now I was wondering what the reviewer was going to say. What if I've bought a lemon ? It wouldn't be the first time, the saving grace was that the cost was minimal in the grand scheme of things, with exchange rates, it was about £22. I thought that was reasonable, for two months worth of interaction.

Should I read it or pass it over ? I read it, had no choice really. I was looking for words like

'scam' and 'mumbo jumbo'. To my absolute delight, there were none. Obviously a very discerning reviewer. There was a collected sigh of relief from all those 'doubters' in my head.

Time will tell if this has the desired effect but I will give it my best efforts. I am one for giving these types of things 'a fair shout' and not just dismissing them out of hand. If it turns out that only five percent was usable, then that's five percent more than I had before I started.

To coin an over used catchphrase but one that fits, 'every little helps'. Our quest for online success is not an easy one and we need to be on top of our game in many different departments. I welcome anything that can enhance or accelerate my journey towards success.

Halfway through the weekend and having a ball.

Enjoy it all.

Do you know that serendipity can't be translated in many languages, Twack? It is a special word you have in English :) I like that. And many others.
I like your take on the courses. Being five percent better afterwards. I haven't thought about it this way before but it's true. Every little helps.

I did not know that and that just wouldn't do, now would it. I found a very interesting article here.

Good old Horace Walpole.

Thanks for an interesting read!

Very welcome.

I too have always been partial to the word serendipity. It just sounds like such a happy word.
I had a serendipitous event yesterday involving the loss of heat on the second coldest day of the year.
Multiple calls and multiple visits from technicians who came to different conclusions.
Finally I put on my big girl pants and complained forcefully (which I’ve only learned to do in my old age) and not only was the issue resolved (no charge) I was rewarded with an extra years service contract, also no charge.
Hoping for more serendipity in all our futures!

Go you. Sometimes they just 'gotta hav' it'.
I am pleased you now have fully working heating.
Serendipity is just a tad too long for it to be a favourite but I agree, it does have a nice rhythm to it, that makes one smile.
Definitely would like more.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend, at least you'll be warm.

Twack,
you are so entertaining! You always take us out on a journey, for which we are very willing to see what you have to say. Some how you take all these wild fragments and weave them into something good, or something even delightful. Something that is greater than the separate pieces.
You delight in language, and wearing many different hats.
Thank you, Suzay

This is a beautiful comment Suzay, thank you so much. I enjoy the writing and for the most part it is a reflection of life, sometimes fractured or frenzied.
I never know how well the 'mad meanderings' will be received, so your comment was a delight in itself. Thank you.

There is always something else about ourselves that we can improve.

Of that, I am sure also.

The amount of time and thought required to write your post shows you probably put a fair amount if time researching and balancing the pros and cons before making a decision.

With that said, there is that "serendipity" thing - something that is often all you need to make a decision!

Whether or not the course turns out to be all your expected, I believe you have learned something anyway!

Susan

Thank you for this Susan. I have no doubt that there will be a percentage that will be worthless. That said, who knows what comes of the useful stuff, that change and the ripple effect it causes, could have far reaching positive outcomes.
There is always something to learn.
