With All That Hugging I nearly Missed This.
I know but it's true. I was so busy hugging everyone yesterday I very nearly missed this 'mini-milestone'. I have actually missed a few milestones at various stages but, as I've said before, this kind of thing doesn't always sit right with me. However, in the true spirit of embracing change, I am making an effort to 'do the right thing' even when it means stepping outside of my own, rather large, comfort zone. Visible form space, I believe.So a big thank you to all who have taken the time to follow me, without you, there really is no inspiration to do anything. For some, this may not seem like a huge total, I have been here for nearly a year now, after all. I see some 'followings' in their many thousands and I think. 'Wow, that's a lot of thank or 'welcoming' messages'
Maybe that's why the figure is more conservative. I have made a point of engaging all those who follow me and those who I have initiated the 'follow'. It seems only polite. I just don't see the value in clicking on every green 'Follow Me' button that's in sight. Then, that's just me. There are no hard and fast rules and 'each to his own'. I'm going to be here for a few more years yet, so there's plenty of time. For now, I am just very grateful to those who have taken an interest. It's a two-way street that allows me to benefit also, from a wide-ranging, diverse community.
Now, it wouldn't be 'me' if we didn't' have a little wander 'Off Piste', although the last time I did that properly, I very nearly broke my shin. Still, that's another story.
Yesterday was National Hugging Day and many hugs were exchanged in a colossal virtual 'love-in'. Did you also know that it was 'National Squirrel Appreciation Day' ? Well I only found out this morning. 'A day late and a dollar short' I think sums it up. Anyway, when I heard this I wanted to confirm that I had heard correctly. So I searched for said day and low and behold, there it was.
To the right is our local squirrel, who seems to be doing an impression of Spiderman. He's also very noisy at times.
It was listed, among many, on a site called National Day. I've included the link as it's educational, you'll see why shortly. Unbelievably, it is dedicated to keeping track of all the special days that are celebrated. I'm not sure if this is worldwide or not. It was an eye-opener though. Take today for instance. The following are celebrated.
'Celebration Of Life Day'
'National Answer Your Cat's Questions Day'
'National Blonde Brownie Day'
Now, if those aren't reason enough to have the day off and celebrate, I don't know what is. Here's the value part. If you are a 'Twitter' user, big or small, then one of the tips I read once was to see what is trending around the world and 'Tweet' accordingly. I have in the past 'Tweeted' in recognition of a certain event happening and the resulting 'like' and 'Retweets' is worth noting.
As an exercise, it would be fun to see which of the above proved most popular. As much as the first one might initially be the front runner, I wouldn't be surprised if number two wasn't right up there. There does seem to be a large amount of cat lovers about. What are they called, I wonder.
Enough for today, gracious thanks once more. Your ability to tolerate my, sometimes, mad meanderings, is forever a mystery to me but I am truly thankful nonetheless..

Twack, that certainly is accomplishment that should be recognized and am happy for you. I am not ready ready as yet to follow you FB which I have been avoiding for at least 20 years. I know that it is necessary to eventually get on board which I will when I am of the stage to do so. Enjoy your big day, Congrats.
I pushed back myself for quite a while. Luckily, I have been a mostly silent participant, using it primarily for website exposure.
I will need to do more this year though.

Well, I've missed posting a lot of milestones myself here for one reason or another...I just didn't get around to it at the time I guess and figured I'd do so the next time around, lol...you know how that goes I'm thinking.
I agree also when it comes to following...I don't usually follow every green button for the sake of following...I like to know a bit about them first, or I liked what they had to say in a post or comment somewhere here, but to me it just seems like the right thing to do. Although I may be guilty of forgetting to say hi to some I've followed myself...hmmm, speaking of squirrels, lol. But, if I see them around here enough I eventually get to it.

I've never heard of the 'National Answer Your Cat's Questions Day, so looks like I missed it, but our cat is always asking questions, so it's an every day thing here, haha! Hmmm, blond brownie...what on earth is that, I guess I'll have to see...yup, love the mad meanderings of yours, it's always interesting indeed!

The Twitter 'thing' actually works, though I have to say it's not high on my list of daily 'to do's' I will at some point slot it in there.
That first paragraph of a persons profile is the 'hook'. If it piques my interest then I will follow it through, there are some incredible bios out there, plus it's a chance to see if they're using the 'Follow Me On' section.
