Time To Become One Of The 8%

That's right, today is the day. Not that long ago, in a land far, far away.... No, that's not it and anyway it was 'Galaxy' if we're using Star Wars as the source, which we're not. Not today. In one of my recent posts I mentioned about new years resolutions. A little factoid that I came across was that 92% of all of us that set out with good intentions, stop. When do they stop to allow that figure to stand true ? Today. January the 12the. So, it's time to become one of the 8%. Today is that moment that you can cross over into the higher percentile and become one of the few rather than one of the many. I'm in it, are you

I've actually been champing at the bit over the last few days wanting to remind you all but I have held my tongue. Didn't want to sound like a broken record. So if today you have woken and are thinking that you really can't be bothered and wondering if it's really worth all the effort, then the answer is yes, it is.

Studies show that those who do something every day are more likely to continue to do so indefinitely. There's no quantity to have to adhere to. It can be the tiniest of things but it has to be something. Consistency is the key and the cumulative effect is powerful. If you've had a 'wobble' in the first week and a half, stabilise and get back on it. Looking back in a few months time, it won't matter, as long as you're still doing whatever it was you set out to do.

OK, mission accomplished, the rest is up to you. Let's move it along now, shall we ?

We have another few hours of delivering this morning and then the six-hour drive tomorrow, returning one of the offspring to university. After that it's plain sailing. Full speed ahead. As Jean Luc Picard would say. "Engage."

I'm having one of those mornings where the 'thoughts' are bombarding me without let-up. I could do with a few hours ahead of me to try to filter them into something discernible. Too many tangents at the moment, well 'digression' is my middle name, as well as Eric. That's an odd one, that was the name of a man that lived over the road from our house when I was three years old. No one around to ask about that anymore. Hey ho, it's a cool name. Eric Swift.

Every day I try to put a quote or two onto Facebook, if they're worthy. I like to share the good stuff when it comes my way but it's also a way of 'drip feeding' into social media without getting sucked into it. A little bit every day, just to stay in the game. Today I had a friend request and as is my way, I checked out the profile before accepting. They had a few videos available to watch, that they'd made themselves. In for a penny... I watched one. Remember we once talked about how there is always something to be taken away, even if it is just five or maybe one percent ?

Well, they gave me a quote, apparently an African proverb, I can neither confirm nor deny that is the case:

"If you want to go fast, go by yourself. If you want to go far, go with others"

Nice. Her question, after reading this out was, what if you want to go far, fast ? Talk about having your cake, eating it and wanting more. Then she went on to explain that if you surrounded yourself with like-minded people who shared your desires, passion, vision and ambitions, then it was possible.

Whether we go fast or not, I believe she is right, we need others to help us achieve the 'far'. Of course my immediate thought was of our situation here. We certainly do have our cake, I may even be on my second or third slice. Seriously, like you know I can be, we have the best of all worlds here, not least in the fact that we are surrounded by like-minded individuals that share our desires, passion, vision and ambition.

On that, I will leave you to inwardly digest those thoughts. Today, as we move into the 8%, is going to be a good one. Enjoy.

Twack Romero.

Great points indeed. You know you are here to stay when being active on WA and ones business building efforts happen every day. The word for that is HABIT.

At first it takes disciplined repetition to instill a habit. Once these actions happen automatically the habit has been created.

That's what helps to never give up.

When I check out old webinars by Jay I have noticed there are so many names of attendees who I do not recognize. There is a reason for that. They became one of the 92%. Seeing that gave me a feeling of sadness.

Thanks for bringing out this important point with your 2020 resolution.

Thanks Twack.

Edwin

You are very welcome Edwin and thank you for stopping by, always grateful.
I was thinking similar thoughts, as yourself, only the other day. Part of my 'work' will be to put all of the blog URL's onto a spreadsheet. As I'm doing this I can't ehlp but reread some of them.
Even now, after only a short time, there are names that I no longer see around, which is indeed a shame. Then again, for some, they may have made the transition into the realms of 'Wealthy Affiliates'

I’ve not been successful or consistent with making or keeping resolutions.
Although I have several in mind this year just because 1-WA has provided the inspiration, and 2-because it’s 2020 and that number alone is kind of inspirational.
But, I’m going to start my year in Feb. after surgery at the end of this month, with the high hopes of improvement in health, energy and pain relief.
So count me in the 8%, just 30 days late!

So February 12th with be your day of reckoning. I will be sharing your high hopes for the end of this month.
I might have to check Jules's posts to see if she did a numerology thing on 2020.

Twack, cranked up the ole WA resolve around the 1st of the year, 2020 is off to a great, exciting start!

Your post is a good post, thanks for the extra resolve to continue to continue! (They should write a song with that in it). Although I'm the kinda person that continues and continues already!

Here's to success in 2020 for you!

Steve

Hi there Steve, sounds like you're on it already. All th every best to you also in 2020 and I agree, it's exciting and is definitely going to be a big year.
I've taken this moment to 'follow' you.

I have never a been a new years resolution type. When I decide for something, I go for it no matter what and don't care what day it is.
It's strange that this year I feel like a new wave of energy has come with the first day of the new year and I've even set some goals. Today! So it seems when 92% stop I start :)
Makes me think...
Thanks for my daily dose of food for thoughts!
Let's finish with our Life is good, shall we?
Lenka

Always my pleasure Lenka. I'm with you, life is very good indeed and we can start anything we want, whenever we want.

Hi Twack,

Love the post! and from your reply to Jeff below, “anytime is a good time to start”. Agree, agree, and then agree some more. Not big into New Year resolutions, I think it allows “fail” to be on your radar from the start.

Rather subscribe to the belief that we can turn anything into a habit.

As always, thanks for sharing!

Gerry 👍🏻

Thanks, Gerry!👍😎

My pleasure Gerry. Good habits are well worth the extra effort of a little everyday.
Hope you had a great weekend.

And you as well Twack!
