It's Fine, I'll Do It Tomorrow.

Welcome, one and all, to the start of the weekend. Whatever it holds foy you, I hope you manage to at least enjoy some, if not all, of it. The title, for many of us might well have become a mantra. I, along with many, have said 'It's fine, I'll do it tomorrow' and back it up with a plethora of good reasons why tomorrow is better than today.

Of course there's a good chance that tomorrow will come with an added set of tasks that you

might not have planned for and all of a sudden life is beginning to stack up on you.

It's 7.24am here at 'Twack Central' and it's the calm before the storm that is, delivery weekend. Every third weekend it comes round. You could set your sundial by it. As Dr. Who might say 'It's a fixed point in time and therefore cannot be altered' sad but true.

We've already done a few. 'The Friday Night Club' those that are never in on the weekend. Score one for us. It's not an overly hard day today, for me at least. It will add up to about five and a half hours of driving but we'll only cover about thirty miles. I like to think that once it's done, I have three weeks to really get into everything else, which helps me get through this weekend. Silver linings and all that.

Back to the matter in hand and the above is relevant. Upon our return I would like to 'kick back' or as it is now, catch up. Problem was that I'd come back to the aftermath of a weeks worth of life and the house would be in more turmoil than is normally the case. It would make me 'itch' and I couldn't relax. There would always be something to do in preparation for the week ahead.

As part of this years, plus the last month of last years, resolutions, it was my aim to do things in the 'now' rather than ignore them and do them later. Even the smallest things, as when left they can grow, exponentially.

Yesterday, even though I didn't feel like it, I vacuumed the entire house. Whoopydo, I hear you cry. The beauty is that I will return late this afternoon and the place will look clean. I did two wash loads, Thursday night and Friday morning, so now there will be nothing to do until Monday. I even emptied the bin, knowing that if I didn't, no one else would but they'd still try to cram a load more rubbish in there.

This morning, I am here, writing to you, knowing that I could have left it until I return. I even thought about leaving the exercises until later. I have learnt, maybe late on in life, that it's worth pulling ones finger out and just getting and doing stuff in the 'now'.

I've had a conversation recently about choices. Without really digging too deep and having a full on debate about it, my feeling is that pretty much most things in life come down to choice. There's always a choice. It's either one or the other. Yes or no. Do it or don't. We can try to complicate it, throw in some mitigating circumstances, list a whole string of excuses but when all is said and done, it comes down to making a decision, a choice.

At the end of the day the buck stops with you. Whether it's hitting that snooze button one more time or saying 'It's fine, I'll do it tomorrow' the decision is yours and yours alone. No one else can do it for you and no one can make you do it.

On that note, my time has run out. Here's to us all having a wonderful day.

Twack Romero.

The weekend is over and I did exactly what I wanted.
Staying in was the first choice during to yesterday’s snow storm.
I nearly finished my crochet project, a blanket for new grand baby Campbell while watching the KC Chiefs win the championship football game.🏈
All is right with the world.

That sounds like a very well-rounded weekend.
I agree in earnest, all is right with the world.

I believe that many of us have had those thoughts at one time or another. Sometimes it cannot be helped and others there is no excuse. I am reminded of the the great football (american) player for the Chicago Bears (#34) Gale Sayers (also known as Magic by Brian Piccolo) announcing at a press conference that he was sick showing lose of weight stated, "Remember, tomorrow is promised to no one." An original movie for television called "Brian's Song" was made showing a fierce competitive battle between the two who really respected each other. Brian Passed away earlier than Gale of cancer.

Edward you are veritable font of information which is always welcome.
Yes, there are a few variations on a theme of that saying, which I very much like.
Appreciate you dropping in, thank you.

Good Morning Twack,

So basic on the necessities of what is needed in life! A simple yes or no - and yes you have to live with the outcome of that choice. Choose wisely! I have over used this phrase with my children when they were growing up! Mostly became a hit or miss with them. That is of course until I just recently heard one of them repeat the same “yes or no” option to one of my grandchildren!
Ahhh! Life’s moments 😀

By the way, I need side cars for my “bin” as it appears I am the designated bin emptier! 😂

Have a great weekend Twack!

Gerry 👍🏻

Hi Gerry, yes there are always consequences. Cause and effect. How very cool that your children have taken your 'wiseness' and are now using it. That must have bought about a wry smile.
The bin. It never ceases to amaze me, that if left to others to empty, they won't but they will continue to cram it to the point where it's physically impossible to fit more in.... and yet still they tried.
I did 'strike' a few years ago (more for the lol's than as a serious protest) it wasn't long before everyone fell into line.
Have a good one Gerry.

So are you sprog free this weekend? No stragglers, teenagers.. etc , that’s a day off in itself... ha ha

It’s so easy to write your “to do” list and when you prioritise you can find yourself moving some of the small ones to the next day, week, month or whatever. I am terrible for doing research about my next blog post for the website, I am always finding reasons not to do it. Where I worked previously I was contracted to write at least one blog a week, (consequences if it wasn’t completed by Thursday 12 midnight) Guess what I completed it every single week, even if I was still writing into the evening) it’s all about accountability.

For me I have to try and make myself a tougher boss because right now I am my own worst enemy and worst boss... so yes get into the habit of doing the things you like least first, someone on here once offered a great little motivational exercise. Count yourself down. 10, 9, 8 etc and start. If interrupted do the same thing again. Another said do each project in 25 min blocks, works for 25 mins, then a quick break, 25 mins, a little longer break say a walk, then another 25 mins etc.
When you see your task list written down with time frames it seems achievable.

Anyway by the time you read this your delivery day will be over so hope it went ok

👍

I'm back and in one piece. Yay.
Time to light the fires beneath.
Mel Robbins did the '5 second rule' counting backwards and then just getting on and doing it. Certainly works if you actually use it. As for the 'blocks' that is a great way of being more efficient with your time and efforts. That sounds like the 'Pomodoro' system.
This is the first year for about ten, that I haven't used a page-a-day diary. It might not be a bad idea to start using something to better organise my days.
I'm rarely not doing anything yet still manage to feel that I haven't done anything.

Hello and welcome home,
Driving over time to kick off the shoes and sit in front of the fire...😀
Yes it is the pomodoro thing, it may have even been you that introduced it to me....(I have a shocking memory lol)

Thank you, we nailed it today.
Likely not me that introduced you. I did do a post that referenced Mel Robbins and her thing and also a post that mentioned 'Pomodoro' but that was only because for months I couldn't remember its name until some else wrote about it, then I worte about them reminding...or something.
I shall be doing a few of the 'mundane' computer tasks tonight as I'm on track for the day.
The weekends do seem to be a time to regroup in preparation for the week ahead.
