I Can't Do This Anymore (A Self Fulfilling Prophecy)

Originally, I was going to write about procrastination but that can wait. (Ironic ?) I can't do this anymore is a self-fulfilling prophecy and one that we are all to often, quite happy to prove right. There within lies the key, we make it happen. It is far easier to be successful in the negative than in the positive. It's easier to stop, than keep going, it's even easier never to start in the first place.

I need to digress because, as I was thinking about this my mind went on a 'rampage'.

I want to

keep you entertained and at the same time, impart some valuable piece of prose that's going to make you sit up and take notice. At the same time trying to keep the thread going in regard to the title. Shall I just do that first and then we can have some random ?

Firstly, in true Carly Simon fashion "I bet you think this song is about you" It was more than one post that got me thinking about the subject. It was a culmination, a build up of similarly worded posts. Saying that, one post really tipped the balance, as it was heartfelt, honest and uplifting.

Just to get the proverbial ball rolling here's a couple of quotes, I'm not beneath using someone else's words to get my point across. Other people tend to say things better than I think them. The sooner we get a 'thought recorder', the better. Actually "Other people tend to say things better than I think them." isn't that bad. I might use that somewhere.

Henry Ford. Innovator, pioneer, businessman and visionary. Ruthless, single-minded and dedicated are probably also true, not sure though. I have just held onto a few quotes of his that I liked:

"Whether you believe you can or not, you're right."

And

"Coming together is a beginning: keeping together is progress: working together is success."

The first one says everything I could but in one line. Job done. No need for me to waffle on in endless loops just for the sake of it.

The second one, for me, sums up our relationship with each other here at Wealthy Affiliate. Initially we might have come here to take advantage of everything the platform has to offer as far as technology, training and resources go. It wouldn't or shouldn't, however, have taken us long to realise that WA is more than that. It's about all of us being able to help each. We are all trying to get somewhere and along the way we are going to need some help. 'No man is an island' someone said.

Wealthy Affiliate is truly about 'Paying It Forward', without that, it's just another site. I know we can't always be on here as much as we like. I could really go to town on that one but I won't, I will say that the few seconds it may take you to answer another members question may well have saved them hours of misery trying to resolve their issue, getting more and more frustrated. They may even question whether it's all worth it.

So, to sum up. If you are at your wits end and every road you are travelling down seems to be a dead end, you have a choice. Two options. The first is the easy one, down tools and give up. The second is the hard one, persevere and carry on. I will use a quote used earlier in a reply I gave to a post and this is one of mine, go me.

"Imagine where you want to be. Too many never 'start' and if they do, at some point they stop. We all have a different path to our destinations but one thing is the same, if we stop, we will never get there."

I'll save random for later. This post has given me plenty of ideas. Thank you me.

Be well.

Love the opening line. As usual a great read a great post. Thank you for sharing.
Michael

You're always welcome Michael and thank you.

You forgot to add 'The Journey of a Thousand Miles begins with a Single Step'...

Or in our case 'The Writing of a Thousand words begins with One Word'

You are right, of course. Though, how many times have you sat there, just looking at that one word. My little blip was just over a week ago. I was really excited to start a article I had been thinking about for a few weeks (sad, I know). I had to finish one before starting the next. The 'one' post turned into a dissertation. I then wrote about four pages (by hand, gadzooks) only to realise it was 'pants'. I have not returned to it since.

Oh, the time I spend staring into the blank Canvas of Word... waiting...

I love that. Thank you for the post. It's ourselves and ourselves alone that hold ourselves back. Love it. 🤗

You're very welcome Stacy. You are so right. Sometimes we assign the blame for our failures elsewhere, where in actual fact we need not look to far from our own doorstep.

The sooner people take responsibility for their own lives the happier they'll be. 🤗

Great stuff and very on point. Self doubt will only increase your chances of failure.

Good to see you Jason and thank you. Nicely put and very true.

Great post. Winston Churchill summed it up well: "Never, never, never give up."
Never is a long time!
Thanks
Joe

Love the Winston Churchill quote! needed that yesterday lol

Great!

Thanks Joe. All true words.

Good morning, another fabulous post. Quitting is never an option but often a thought. I love the way this community is always ready and willing to help.

Have a wonderful day.

Laura

Thank you.A fabulous morning Laura. Sun was shining, then it rained and now it back to its glorious radiance. Words written, washing sorted, mince for tea, if any one bothers to come home, if not then I'll just have more.

I am so glad that you are never giving up.

Thank you for your article on self reflection.

You're very welcome.
Never giving up, always moving forward. I might take the odd detour, every now and then though. Keeps things interesting.

I appreciate your transparency and sharing your personality. Glad to see you're thanking yourself. hahaha

It's my pleasure and thank you. Worthy of a follow, for sure.

Hi Twack,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. It is quite enlightening.
Much success to you!

Kind regards,
Nichola

Thank you Nichola, you're very welcome.

You are welcome!

'I'm so vain, I probably think this post is about me' hahahahahahahahahaha. brilliant!

You are so right, either way we can, or we can't both are right depending on your mindset and actions. We create and manifest our reality, and when we are trapped in a negative fall it is very easy to start accumulating and increasing the negativity around us.

As we discussed earlier it takes a step back, or a random digression of thought to see the truth. Sometimes we have to have a jolt of reality (not this projected one) the real truth, to bring everything back to perspective.

I love this community of ours, it truly is a pay it forward ethos. Complete strangers have come to my aid, offered to be a sounding board, offered kind words, wisdom and advice, or just been kind enough to read my words.

As always your post has made me smile, and really appreciate what we have here at WA!

The 'thought recorder' might not be the best idea for me. Anyway, you're absolutely right also. Reading other posts sometimes helps to clarify what is spinning around in my head. I'm not always able to articulate in a straightforward manner which is why some of my posts tend to 'wander'.
Will Smith dealt with taking a step back quite nicely in 'After Earth' when he would 'take a knee'
We all have a story or two and if we're not careful we let our experiences define us rather than evaluating a situation one step removed.
The washing was out and the rain came, 'C'est la vie'
