How Long Have You Given Yourself ?

Good afternoon merry WAfflestompers, I trust the day finds you well and steadfast in your ambition to become wondrous balustrades in the ever winding online staircase.

How long have you given yourself ? This is a question that came up in conversation yesterday, between myself and my son, whilst journeying to drop him off at uni after his five month forced home incarceration.

In actuality, you may not have given yourself a time frame or It could be that you have said 'I'll give it six months and if I don't make any money by then, I'll call it quits'

Now, at this point I could deliver a dozen paragraphs listing all the various combinations of the number of months, or years, you have set aside for your foray into the labyrinthine conduits of internet entrepreneurship but I won't.

You get the idea, it's a simple enough question and as far as I'm aware, there is no right or wrong answer. I'm not you and you're not anyone else, so the chances are that we will all have varying answers.

If our answers are the same, then the variants might be the reasons behind the said span of time. One factor will be how much time, in the present, you can put aside for this wander into the depths of the wild, wild west. Oops, sorry, that should be world wide web. That said, it can sometimes feel like the former.

Here's mine, to get the ball rolling, ten years. There it is, can't take it back. I started by saying five to ten years but that felt a little vague and non-specific, as there's quite difference between the two, five years to be exact.

So I changed it to ten years. Having a longer time span can take some of the pressure off but you have to be careful that you don't become complacent. It's easy to sit back and think that you've got all the time in the world so there's no need to rush.

The opposite could also be said to be true. If you don't give yourself enough time then you could become harried by the whole situation and make rash decisions, or get frustrated when the results aren't forthcoming.

In truth, there are a multitude of pros and cons and we have to be happy that we have given ourselves a fair crack of the whip.

During the course of my journey thus far, I have watched countless videos of successful online entrepreneurs, either in webinars, or as part of some kind of training or sales pitch. At some point they will deliver their 'story'.

The vast majority (and yes, there will be those who say otherwise) state that their own journey, from novice to current position, or a place of financial affluence, has taken about ten years. Many also hold their hands up and say that they made very little money in the first few years.

It is of added comfort to me currently, as I have just calculated how long it will take to execute the next stage in this prolific peregrination. Still, there's plenty of time, isn't there ?

I'll leave you to ponder.

Well, that's a great post, Twack. Thanks for sharing. No offense to you, cowboy, but I am hoping to do this under two years, not that I've put any or-else-I-quit clause on the job, I just choose to benefit from my work a little faster.
It's doable. I just need to learn to work faster and not meander so much.🤠

Thank you Joss and no offence taken. At some point I'll write a 'Mission Statement' type post that will hopefully explain it all in full but I can't do that until certain other things are in place. For now, I just need to start work on the new site and tidy up the other two.

Great food for thought Twack.

My response would be as its necessary to becoming financially independent. Along the way I'll make modest short term goals to measure my progress. If I fall short, I'll evaluate my analytics and make adjustments guided by the data. Then trust the system.

Thanks for your thoughtful article.

Edwin

Nice.

You are most welcome Edwin. That sounds like a solid plan. Evaluating along the way is certainly crucial to staying in touch with how our progress is actually moving forward.
Appreciate you stopping by, thank you.

Nice.

You're most welcome Twack!

I'm in this for the long haul. I figure anything worth doing is worth the time.

I'm getting through the lessons first and trying to write content (the migraines are making that part more difficult at the moment) I figure the days my brain is working better I'll focus on content more and lessons a little less.

Hey Sean, that sounds like a plan and sorry to hear about the migraines, my wife is a sufferer so I know how debilitating it can be.
Appreciate you stopping by, a 'follow' is in order I believe.

Great post!!
I am giving myself a year! Not to start taking in the dough or to be bathing in the greens of luxury, but to just get some traffic flowing!

At this point, thata all I really want to see is some good traffic numbers!

Thanks for the awesome post!

You are most welcome Jeff and thank you. Sounds like you have a plan underway. Traffic is where it's at, above all else (In humble opinion)
Appreciate you dropping in, a 'follow' is in order, good to meet you.

Unfortunately there are more yesterday's than tomorrow's, so each is lived to the max.

Once you get into it, it's what's we do.

Way of life!

The destination changes yet the journey remains the same.

Think I will be doing this as long as I can, it's too much fun to not.

It is fun, I agree, though I'm not sure about there being more yesterday's than tomorrow's, maybe that's a perspective thing.
That said, there's a high number coming through, that are determined to continue for as long as it takes, which I find quite uplifting.
