Congratulations On Reaching Day 50 And The Metal Pecker Is Back

I knew there was something in the air this morning when I woke up. In fact, in might have been that that woke me up. 5am I tell you, twenty minutes before the alarm. I didn't realise it at first but the feel of the day made me think. Today is the fiftieth day of the year and to mark the occasion, the 'Metal Pecker' is back.

Anyway, before we get to that, I just wanted to say 'awesome' to all those who have continued with whatever they decided to start back at the beginning of the year. If you're still doing it then you have reached the half century of days, almost at the two-month mark. Outstanding.

Anyone who has fallen by the wayside, then now is as good a time as any to get back on it. Why not ? Before you know it, you'll be right back on that horse. You know, it's that 'best time to plant a tree' thing.

Exercise is one of the things that I wanted to get back into at the start of the year. One of the things I do is weights. Arnie won't be sweating any time soon though. I work on the principle that anything is better than nothing. I do a few sets of different movements and increase the number of repetitions every couple of days. When I get to fifteen, I up the weight. Today was a 'weight change' day, which always enhances my already 'jolly' mood. Yay.

It was at this time that I thought about how long I had been doing them, one quick calculation later and voila. 50. So I wanted to mention it, in case some of you didn't realise. It's not quite party material but it's close. Well done you.

Still, had to drop one offspring at the bus stop, which was no mean feat, as we've had some of the flooding you might have heard about. Who builds a city on a flood plain ?

Not the best pictures, sorry. One handed phone shots.

Things are looking up though. It's been trains only for the last three days. Although this year has been one of the worst, it's not uncommon, most years are the same to a lesser degree. You'd think we'd be better prepared by now, alas not. The 'contraflow' traffic system they put together was pretty good though. It didn't take me much longer to come back in 'rush hour' than it normally does.

This year I have been pushing 'EBay' more consistently. Trying to list something every day.

There's always something to sell. Last night it was a pair of Land rover rear coil springs. Well, they needed packing this morning and that's no walk in the park, I can tell you. It was like being in the 'Krypton Factor' or 'The Great Egg Race'. Anyone remember either of those ? Finally, they gave it up, I knew they would, it was just a matter of time. I nearly said about having an 'extra spring in my step' but decided against it.

So you can see how my day was progressing. Everything just felt right. When you have days like this, embrace them. Who knows what you might accomplish. Plus, and I almost forgot, can you believe it's delivery weekend coming up again ? It will be three weeks this Saturday. Where has that time gone ? Today was packing day. We did all 120 books yesterday in 45 minutes and all the orders today, in less than an hour. Boom, pound it, noggin.

The 'Metal Pecker' is back. For those scratching their heads, we have to go back to the 17th March 2019 and blog number 46. (I knew that spreadsheet would come in handy) Feel free to acquaint yourselves below. The comments were exemplary.

Now he's back to take his rightful place on the mast opposite our house. You could say he has top billing, sorry that was bad, even by my standards.

We move into the calm before the storm, that is delivery day. These two days are an oasis midst the barren landscape that will be Saturday.

'All aboard the Skylark' as Nutty Noah used to say. Although I remembered the phrase, the name of the cartoon escaped me, a search was in order. I found the show and another item of interest. The phrase is also the title of an album from the band 'Hawkwind' (We shared some quality time over many years) but it was only released last year and I had no idea it even existed. Don't you just love it when that happens.

No 'Hump Day' here my friends, for today is 'weirdward' Wednesday. Please enjoy what's left of it.

Twack Romero.

Wow so many of you have lots of stuff to sell on EBay. I always find most of the time it’s not worth my time because eBay seem to take a chunk of it, then PayPal, it just doesn’t seem worth it. What am I not getting??? Lol!

I know what you mean Alex. I try to think of the phrase. "You have to pay the goose that lays the golden eggs"
It helps if you're seliing items that don't actually owe you anything in real terms.
Many of the car spares have already been accounted for when I sold whichever vehicle they applied to.
Computer spares are the same.
A few years a go I bought an Apple G3 locally for £16, sold it last year for £150, then went and bought another one for £5o. When I come to sell it, I can be fairly flexible with the price because I'm still in 'credit' on the whole deal.

Ok that makes sense then. Good business sense Twack!

Obviously, it doesn't always work out like that but we try.

What a funny title. You are placing another smile in my heart! Plus the adjectives for Wednesday are a Hoot! Even days shouldn't all be expected to "be expected" to always behave is pretty darn realistic.
Thanks again Twack!
Suzay got up too early and now needs a little nap! ZZZz you later!

It must be the weather Suzay, as my day started earlier than intended. I will start to suffer later and probably start to drift off whilst typing.
Always very grateful when you stop by Suzay, thank you.

I slept two hours, and it was wonderful. Lost one hour in the morning, got back one extra!
Hey, Twack if your head hits the pillow and you are out, just like that, then sleep. Out like a light is probably because of the electric light 24/7, and not the lights up in the heavens.
Nic Tesla and his invention of alternating current tested in Gunnison, Colorado. Where the mules kept sticking their noses on the DC, direct current generators and electrocuting themselves while pulling heavy ore carts from a mine. Then they'd have to shut down the system and drag out the dead mule, plus DC didn't travel too far. (100 feet?) So many generator posts and very dangerous to animals and humans.
Wow you got the bonus info, and I didn't just dream it up,
Suzay

And that's why I love this platform. You never know quite what you're going to learn, from one day to the next.
Thank you Suzay.

!000 brains+ are better than just one , and alot more sparks of creativity and fun!
Yes and Nic Tesla was and arc'r and a sparker, but never a sparkler. Tes also worked on that disappearing a battleship- look up Al Bielac who also worked on it, youtube a couple long interesting videos The one where the men where the men's bodies unfortunately integrated into the metal walls of the ship. They were dying. The second experiment Tesla quit because the next set of guinea pigs, I mean men were headed to the same fate and Tes refused to be a part of it.
Zay

You've out done what i thought couldn't be out done. I will check those out.
Very thankful Suzay.

Yes, Twack--I had to pack some eBay orders today and unlocked a car, so the "work" day is going swimmingly!

Constitutes a good day then.

It does, indeed, Twack!

Hi Twack!
I can identify with the over abundance of rain. Here in the Midwest U.S.,which is supposed to be semi dry plains, we’ve had rains that were classified as “once in 500 years” three times in the past 10 years.
As sea levels continue to rise I may have to reconsider my retirement plan to the top of a mountain somewhere.
It’s a bit early for the spring birds here, but I’ve had red and yellow finches, nuthatches, chickadees, cardinals and others yet to be identified at the feeders all winter.
As for EBay, I don’t happen to have an extra pair of rear coil springs laying about.
Although I’m sure if I ever unpack all the boxes from my move (3 years ago) I could find some whatnots to sell.
Carry on my friend,
KyleAnn

Pigeons, Magpies and Robins seem to be the fraternity in the back garden. We have had a pair of pigeons for what must be ten plus years, I'm assuming the young ones stay as the old ones move skyward.
The seasons, they are a changing. (That could be a Bob Dylan song) The rains get heavier and more frequent, like the storms.
Luckily, we are located on high ground.
One day we'll get the message but I wonder if it may then be too late.
I might take a foray into the loft at some point. There, some treasure we might find.
