By The Power Of Pinterest

Only a quick one today my friends (chuckles to himself). I was somehow reminded of 'He-Man' when I came up with 'by the power of Pinterest', you know, when he grabs his sword and barks "By the power of Grayskull". Anyone ?

Okey dokey then, I'll get me coat (you must know that one) Using a rather large amount of self-control, I shall endeavour to keep to the script.

I actually wrote this last night but ran out of time, the whole clocks going back really messed things up, especially with the dogs, they were 'chomping at the bit' to get out of the house.

Truth be known, last night I just needed to write and when the urge is there you have to go with it. I also wanted to share some of the nice things, it's good to share.

It's not majorly epic but I thought it worth mentioning. Recently I had this come through into my inbox.

Obviously I have omitted my site name, I'm good like that. So, there were two issues and they are both now fixed and I did nothing to deserve this message, diddly squat to be more precise.

"The specific issue validated was 'Text too small to read'."

"The specific issue validated was 'Clickable elements too close together'."

Within Google search console there is a facility that allows you to check your URL's to see if they are 'Mobile Friendly' which I did for the offending URL, I then asked for validation. I didn't even go to the site, my bad.

It took somewhere close to four weeks for the 'Big G' to validate my complex fix but it was worth the wait. I like this.
Anyway, what has this got to do with Pinterest I hear you ask ?

Well, about a month ago I decided to delete 90% of my pins, my boards were a real mess and there was no order to anything, I had random pins in the wrong place and it just wasn't very well-organised. What do we say ? If in doubt, delete, so that's what I did

I thought I would start again but first I had to watch as all the 'love' disappeared, it was a rapid decline but I was prepared for it. To make sure it wasn't all in vain, I made a commitment to take my 'pinning' more seriously.

In all honesty I haven't done a great deal apart from make sure that any 'pins' have gone on the correct boards. I'm not a prolific 'pinner', if that's the right word, but I have made an effort to use it when I have been publishing blogs, updating videos or promoting something or other.

Imagine my surprise when these figures showed up in recent days.

Not sure why that's blurry maybe it will be better when it's published, id so please ignore the previous comment. Hopefully, you can see the data.

Having the Pinterest extension on your browser is a big help, as it allows you to pin pretty much any image you come across, which is nice.

I was going to post about my YouTube progress for September but it seems as though the email has gone astray or I have imagined it, either is possible. The good news was that the channel is moving in the right direction, albeit slowly.

There you have it, just putting it out there, it's nice to have positive news to be able to share, plus I had itchy fingers so 'needs must' and all that.

Progress is progress, whether small, medium or large and seeing as I'm not laser focusing on one aspect at the moment, I can ask for no more. That said, I am trying very hard to come up with a routine, or schedule, that I can adhere to on a daily basis that will take into consideration all projects, ventures and schemes.

As you can see, I did make a start on drawing up a plan

The pinterest figures are pretty impressive, how nice! Congratulations on that, my friend. I'm starting with Pinterest anew this week, had a long break as it's impossible to do everything at the same time.
I like your plan (if it stayed like it is on the picture...)
I can't write any plans for myself. I never know when I get a new translation and anyway, I like to go with the flow and only have some major deadlines. But I admire people who have their plans and follow them diligently.

Thank you Lenka, they do look good on paper, though I'm not sure how good they actually are as I'm sure those 'impressions' can go up into the hundreds of thousands. Still, it's a start.

I would like to have a system in place by years end, one that enables me to hit all the major platforms every day, along with regular site posting, video posting and software set-ups, though the latter might not be feasible daily but maybe on a rotational basis.

Yes, it must be difficult for you to create strict routines when you can have work dropped into your lap without notice. I might have to put aside an hour a day to 'go with the flow' though, so as to get my 'creative' on.😎

I'm sure you are very efficient even without plans. But you are right, to be on all platforms daily requires some plan and system. Something I'll have to figure out as well.
I'm happy that I'm getting better at sharing my posts and videos all over which I wasn't doing at all until recently.
Just remembered how we said at the beginning of 2020 that it would be an amazing year. In spite of the lockdowns and all, I still think it is :-)

Absolutely it is if you think about how much progress we've made over the last ten months, as you say, even with 'lock down'.
I think for me it's trying to find out where best to spend my time and make sure that's where I spend it, certainly when it comes to other platforms. There's no point in scheduling for something that's not beneficial to our causes.
Yes, sharing the videos is a great way to get more exposure, as I've been going through them, editing and doing the SEO, I've then sent them wherever I can and then sometimes reshared them from those platforms, that way you don't get jumped on for duplicate posts.

Good Morning Twack,

I suppose Google does not love me as I never receive those types of messages, oh, well....
Pinterest has me wondering. I try to pin every day and make private pins for my posts. Some years ago that was going very well, and I saw an increase in traffic to my websites. Nowadays it is FB that shows positive results and Pinterest is in decline. The hows and the whys are beyond me.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske

Hello Taetske,
Maybe you have no issues to correct, no news is good news and all that.
I suppose they all change their algorithms periodically and if we're not privy to the changes all we see is a decline, in the same way that FB now doesn't give much credence to the 'thumbs up'
It might be something worth investigating further show I see a downturn in figures even though my routine has remained consistent.

You know something, Twack? I have an aversion to using these emojis. It is very sweet to receive smiles, flowers and little hearts, but somehow I cannot get myself to sending them. Is it because I am a tic old fashioned? That could well be the reason.

You are probably right in saying no news is good news, no love, but neither a problem. Perhaps I am flying below their radar.

All the best, Taetske

Sometimes I find them useful when I'm trying to convey something that might not be completely obvious through text. Out of everything, when it comes to detailed conversations there's nothing better than face to face, far easier to 'read' a persons expression then.
I do try to use them on FB though, as I know they are helping the comments obtain greater exposure, at least that's the idea, I think.

Aaaah on the pininterest trail we go!! I do not want to show my stats as do not want to be accused of oneupmanship so shall refrain!! ; Glad that you have it in the direction that it should have been at. That is a win in my book! and the results bear out.

Was going to reach out if you had not been seen today but all well that ends well!!;

Good start on the list know how difficult that is when you are in everything fuzzy mode. Must admit to have had early nights and full nights sleep the last couple and feeling a heck of a lot better for it!!

Break a leg with you tube with you tube!!;

R.

Thank you Rami and appreciate your concern. Just one of those weekends but I'm catching up now and plan to have a full day tomorrow.

I think my 'impressions' had gone down to 2.1k and were just sat there, week in week out. This upturn has been down to activity more than major strategic planning.

I have finally managed to find the transcription plugin which means I can now create posts on those YouTube videos that warrant it, that in turn means I can plaster the website post on social media without those platforms that take offence restricting my posting privileges.

I would have thought no less of you had you shone a light on your successes and would have received nothing but applause and hearty congratulations but I do appreciate your considerations.🙏

My girls loved He-Man, I remember it well Twack.
Sounds like my recent fix on Google, same 2 issues. I always just click validate fix without doing anything and so far it has always come back as fine. Pretty sure it is just a google glitch, lol.

As I was just saying to Jeff, my lot weren't into it, so I never had a chance to watch it properly, such a shame😂. I had to suffer Telly Tubbies and Sporticus.
Yes, that's what I have done a couple of times, it's always the same two. I did 'fix' it one time and that led me to find the 'Yellow Pencil' plugin, which I still use now on other sites. So, it has been fortuitous.

My younger one was more of a tomboy and it fired her imagination.

Is there really a way to fix it? I only ever tried the first time and wasted many hours to no avail. In exasperation, i clicked the validate fix and Hey Presto as if by magic it was fixed.
I think google does it to be annoying sometimes.

I found an article about the optimum font size (in Google's eyes) so changed it on the offending posts along with making sure the links were no longer close to each other.
Since accidentally coming across the 'validate workaround' I haven't changed anything.

The trouble with Google is that you can end up going round in circles until you get dizzy, cross eyed and fall over. Metaphorically speaking of course, lol.

I hope that once they have found one article, they are likely to have a look round.
Google seems to have its own agenda and I'm sure those with the deep pockets have teams working everything out so that they can enjoy the top slots.
I really struggle to write to a 'tick-box template'.

I can't write to a template either so you are not alone. I have tried but it doesn't flow. Either people come and look or they don't. All will happen as it should.

That's exactly how I see it (You can almost hear the groans travelling through cyberspace)
"All will happen as it should" yes, I like that.

And on that note I shall be off as I have orders to fulfill.

This is very motivational, Twack.

I surely hope you can come up with a plan to schedule ahead.

Nice work this far.

Myra

Thank you, Myra, that's very kind of you to say. I have it constantly in the forefront of mind which means I will eventually get there, it just might take me a while longer.
