Now that's the way to start the New Year. Yesterday was full on family day with 10 hours of games and enough food to save me cooking for the next week, though we might get bored with korma and chile after just a couple of days, I suppose. After posting in morning and managing a quick 'pop-in' later in the day, it was bedtime before I checked my phone and saw those words that we should never ever tire of. Awesome, Your Content is Indexed in Google! January 01, 2020.

I'm not normally one for posting when this happens, my bad. I should do it more though because I know how I enjoy reading of others successes as and when they are put out there. This is a new year and I am embracing change and what better way to do that than doing what I would normally shy away from.

This is more meaningful as I'm trying to go 'unplugged' with this latest site. No 'bells and whistles' I haven't even got round to adding it to Google console or added site maps. It's just a place for me to go and write all of the weird and weird stuff that has no literary home. Seems I have plenty of that, go figure.

New year, new start, new me. We're only on day two and the fervor has not diminished one 'iota' How about you ? Now that the reality of everything going back to 'normal' is starting to loom large, are those bold desires beginning to lose their gilt edges ?

Here's a couple of miserable factoids that probably have 'contention' written all over them. Only 12% of those who make New Years resolutions will actually keep them. Boo. Not only that but January 12th is the day that most will falter and fall off their quest. Sad but true, allegedly.

Why is this, I wonder ? Possibly a whole host of reasons. Setting the bar to high, being unrealistic, losing motivation, too tired, too busy and the list goes on. Have I got the solutions to this ? No. I do, however, have one small piece of advice that has worked for me, after many years of successful failures.

Start small and build up. In essence, you are trying to create a new habit. You have to remember that habits don't' happen overnight. Two of the favourites for new years resolutions are losing weight and getting fit. Think of it this way. No one gets over weight and unfit in a week. It takes time and dedication. So why would you think that you can reverse the process in the first week or two ?

I'm no expert on either of the above, I'm just using them as examples. Small, bite size pieces of progress will help to keep the motivation up and it won't be too long before you will start to see results. This applies to many areas we would like to improve upon.

Anything is better than nothing, in my book, no matter how small.

So, if you want to be part of the 12% who do succeed, take it steady, have patience and build it up. You'll get there and when you do it will be oh, so sweet a taste.

Tomorrow is your future, today is your life.

Twack Romero.

Congratulations on your site being indexed, Twack, exciting! (mine was indexed as well 😋I don't get notifications but just checked in in site manager).
As to new years resolutions, I never make any. If I want to go for something, I don't care if it's new year's day or 15 July. But when I decide for something, I can be very determined. I used to go to gym 5 times a week when I was at university. Set up my own plan and went for it like a bull.
"Tomorrow is your future, today is your life." Awesome!

Thank you Lenka, it is excting, every time. Yours has happened quickly, which is way cool.
I started planning my resolutions at the beginning of December and implemented a few but I'm very much like you, starting something when it is the 'right' time, whenever that is.

Good afternoon Twack,

Hey, that is indeed nice, no more cooking for a while and being indexed, how good can it get at the start of the new year?

You are right, the kgs did not pile up in 1 week. It was a 3-year process my WA Kgs. I will do my best to get rid of some as I do not fit in most of my clothes.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske

I know, even the car having a flat battery didn't 'faze' me, we're on it right from the 'get go'
I have nearly an entire hanging rail of clothes that no longer even come close to being usable. Marie Kondo is going to have a field day.
Enjoy your day Taetske.

Hi Taetske,

Hmmm, another New Year issue to address... the wardrobe space that has needed culling for quite a while! I'd better face up to it, I'll never wear those clothes again :)

Have a really positive 2020. Best wishes, Sue :)

Good Morning Sue,

When you give those clothes away you have given up hope. I do not give up hope as when I look at what I have I would really like to wear those pretty summer dresses again.

I hope you will have a splendid and slim 2020.

Nice Post Twack.
Someone once said to me 'If you do the same tomorrow as you did today, then nothing will ever change'. I finally understand what was being said now. I think they meant 'If you do nothing today and the same tomorrow' Obviously nothing will ever change.

Happy New Year.

John

Thank you John. I had to read it twice before it 'clicked' but it does stand true. Iike small increments, as I know I can face them each and every day.
May your year be a happy and fulfilling one.

Hiya Twack,

I’d totally have some korma and chile😋what a fab start to the New Year! Great post which will resonate with a lot of us I’m sure. I hope this is the year I finally understand what to do to succeed and I’m going to keep going even if I’m just nibbling instead of biting - I’m a lion and one day I will have my share!

Krs Caroline😁

If not now, then frozen as future 'ready meals'. Chile always tastes better after a day or two, must self marinating or something.
Nibbling is good, little and often, they say. The 'Lions' share' will be yours I'm sure.
Thank you for stopping by, always appreciated.

I forgot to say I love the beautiful pic you posted above and have cheekily swiped it😊 hope that’s ok. I don’t have to use it on anything if it’s copyrighted I just really liked the look of it. If you’d rather I deleted it pls just say and I will right away.

Caroline

It's all good Caroliine, all the pictures (Title one was Canva) in the post came through using the image feature built into the Blog template. All yours, and it is a beautiful picture.
