Are You Busy ? Am I Interrupting ?

"Are you busy ?" has to be up there, in the top three. How about "I'm not interrupting, am I ?"

Or maybe "Have you got a minute ?" yet it's never a minute, is it ? I also like "Are you doing anything important this afternoon ?"

"When you've got a minute, will be fine, I just need to get this done by...."

"Are you in the middle of something ?"

"I don't suppose you mind if..."

"I'm not disturbing you, am I?"

I think you might have got the point. You probably have your own list of favourites, when it comes to the inevitable intro's.

On the whole, after a year, I am used to them. My feathers are no longer ruffled and the half finished smile conveys enough, without me having to verbally dismember the perpetrator. It's just been one of those days, that I'm sure we all have, from time to time.

It's no wonder Michelangelo took so long to finish the Sistine Chapel. I'm also fairly sure that Vincent Van Gogh was trying to paint a stunning arrangement of flowers when he ended up with a jar of Sunflowers.

I'll be as quick as I can, as I'm sure you are all busy. Were this a musical score, then the temp would be Allegro and therefore should be read 'quickly and in a brisk lively manner'

Normal duties this morning, though made slightly more entertaining when one of the brood left their lunch in the car. As I watched the bus pull away, I realised the only option was to 'follow that bus' and hope that it stopped at some point, long enough for me to ditch the car and run up to doors, waving Pot Noodle at the driver. It did and I did. Result.

Home to pack up some more EBay sales. Then the phone rings. Same son had arranged a doctor's appointment, to have his cough checked out. Sensible lad. 11.30am, the very same day. Bear in mind that his journey to work, takes the best part of an hour. So after an hour, he began the journey home. We agreed to rendezvous. I was there on time, he was not.

By the time he met me, there was no point in going home, so I took him to his appointment.

Though, it turned out not to be an appointment. It was 'turn up at this time and we'll see you when we see you'. 45 minutes and we were rolling again.

Home just in time to say 'Hi' to my wife as she set off to pick up 'two' more offspring from the train station. I managed to vacate the premises and meet up at the garage. Friday is 'sandwich day'. So while they all tucked into their sausage, egg and bacon delights, I enjoyed a salad sandwich.

That done, it was back home. The good lady was now leaving to go and 'meet' the latest rescue dogs that had landed. I, on the other hand, was to embark on an hour long journey taking the aforementioned siblings (plus one friend) to a venue, right in the middle of the UK's second largest city. On a Friday afternoon. It seems that I missed the memo that included me in these arrangements. My bad.

It did turn out to be fairly straightforward and I was back home by 5pm. Just in time to feed the dogs, run a bath and start the evening meal. That done, I sat at the computer, ready to do battle when 'firstborn' enters stage left and needs me to find some of his documents, like now.

Remember Keisha's post the other day, the one that had a picture of the 'Mona Lisa' in it. Check it out, I need you to see her smile. That's my smile. I now own the rights to that smile. If someone ever says "His face was a picture" Well mine is.

I have about two hours left to salvage what's left of the day. Days like today so have a way of making you feel more alive. It's what we sign up for, I guess. It will also teach me to make sure I read the small print, or 'fine print'. Whatever.

Here's hoping your day has been outstanding and that you have accomplished all that you set out to do.

It has been 'Frantic Friday' or should that be 'Frazzled Friday' ? Either or, neither nor.

Twack Romero.

Gotta love days like that, lol! I hear you there for sure...somehow I often end up included in plans I had no idea I'd be involved in either, but I suppose it makes life interesting. It surely is no wonder why Michelangelo took so long painting that and Van Gogh ended up with sunflowers instead, life's constant interruptions, lol!

Anyways, glad to hear you were able to salvage some of the day and didn't end up verbally dismembering anyone...yeah, those lines are a dead giveaway that someone else has other plans for our day in mind. :)

Best wishes :) ~Sherry

"somehow I often end up included in plans I had no idea I'd be involved in"
How true that is.

I think you have just described a normal day in the life of Shan (aka me) lol! It seems no matter how hard I try to plan my day, there is the inevitable exceptions that will no doubt find their way in.

I have come to the conclusion that the one constant in all the hecticness (is that a word?) is everyone around me seems to count on me to be the rock in the middle of the chaos, always waiting to gladly pick up the slack where ever necessary. The jury is still out on if this is a good thing lol.

I like to think it just means people like us are needed by those we care about most ;)

I hope you got some 'me time' into your day at some point!

Best, as always,
Shannon

Thank you Shannon. 'Hecticness' should be a word, as it's the perfect descriptor.
You've put a very nice perspecitve on things. Truth be known, I'd rather have it this way round.
Life was a little different when I was their age and we always said that we wanted them to have a better time of things than we did.
That means living up to that pledge and I don't begrudge any of it.
I shall go and write a post shortly, that will be my 'me time.'
Hope your weekend is an enjoyable one, with or without 'plans' intact.

Good Morning Twack,

I am happy to hear you have not verbally dismembered anybody, let's keep it sweet and peaceful, the weekend is here.
It must be rather hectic at times with a big family.
Michael is sitting in his workroom in the old part of the house and I have my place in the new part. If I want to speak to him I have to go downstairs, walk through the living room and climb stairs again to reach him.
Great idea to adopt the Mona Lisa smile it helps for keeping nerves under control.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske

You're right Taetske, the weekend is here.
The 'smile' works everytime. Although it would be nice, if one day, it was acknowledged that being sat at the computer was construed as work.

Quite a busy Friday huh, you would’ve think Okay I got my plans for the day than all of a sudden circumstances arise.
As the day unfolds you tackle each one, you deserve to pat yourself on your back. Most definitely you earned the rights of Mona Lisa smile. Family is our most precious gifts. Have a Blessed Weekend Twack! Cecelia 🌸

Thank you Cecelia, you're very kind.
Years ago, a day like yesyerday would have 'bent me out of shape'. Now, as you say, I just tackle each event as it comes along. You never get a second chance with time lost, in regard to family.
Have a splendid weekend.

I'm sure the Mona Lisa smile looks good on you.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mickey

Thank you Mickey, I might give it a try.
May your weekend be full of good times and joy.
