I know how to put a picture in my posts and I placed a picture in my header, but I don't know how to place pictures elsewhere in my homepage. When I click the blue "Customize"

You need to set a featured image for each post

You know, there are some brilliant people in chat and they gave me that very answer an hour and a half ago. Silly me, I didn't check for responses to my question here because I thought that the little envelop in the top right corner of this website would tell me if there were any more responses. The little envelop had a 0 under it. Later I checked my email and, voila, I was informed of your response there. I apologize for my inexperience with chats, etc. and how this site works. I'll get the hang of it eventually, but spot on! Thank you for your help!

No worries Diana. The envelope top right is for private messages, it's the green icon with the map of the world that has responses to your questions.

Thank you again.

I'm finding it difficult to help because I haven't used this particular theme before. I have had to switch themes because of glitches like this. Not sure if you are online this moment, but if you are, there are some incredibly tech savvy individuals in live chat at the moment. They would probably be able to steer you in the right direction! Wishing you luck! - Joy

That's precisely where I received my answer! I didn't realize that I should set a featured image even if I only had one in the post. Thanks for your help!

I know how to add a picture to a post and my display header, but not so much with the rest of my website. In the "Dashboard" section, there's a big blue button called "Customi

You would first upload your pictures to the wordpress Media Library. (#1, 2 below) Once they're in the Media Library, you can then add the stored pictures to your posts or pages as you edit them. (#3 below)

[added]
The pictures not showing on your home page may be a function of your theme. The home page may be intentionally showing just a snippet of the post. Clicking on it from your home page would display the full post with its pictures.

Thank you. My problem appears to have been not having set a "Feature Image" for each post in addition to inserting an image into the post. I suppose that had I chosen to insert more than one picture per post, setting a Feature Image would have made more sense to me and I wouldn't have overlooked it. Guess it was more important than I thought!

Thanks again.

Hey TruthFinder!

Your issues seem like they are theme related.

1) In order for your images to show up on your homepage you must have a featured image set.

2) If you have a featured image set and the image is still not appearing on your homepage then check your theme customization section and see if there is a section that says hide/show featured image. Change it accordingly.

3) Additionally, check your widgets section Appearance > Widgets
See if there are sections for you to add images to and widgets to do so.

4) Go to your theme's setup page and see if they have specific instructions on how to set these features up. You can find this information by going to:
Appearance > Themes

If it is too confusing you might want to find a different theme but usually there are instructions on how to use the theme features. Some make it complicated like this so you would have to upgrade to the pro versions

Hope this helps :)
Marlinda

Thank you very much!

You were spot on about the featured image set because that was exactly my problem! I'll take note of the other things that you said, they might come in handy.

You know I assumed that the little envelop symbol on the top right of this page would have indicated that this message was here. that's why I didn't get this message until 14 hours after you sent it because I found out about it in my email. I earlier asked this question in live chat and someone replied about feature image then I fixed it. I'll be sure to also check my emails before I come to this site in the future so that I don't miss any future replies to my questions!

Thanks again!

Its np :) I'm glad that you figured it out.

Your notifications to posts is the Earth globe box next to it. It turns green when you have notifications. You are right that you can also find them in e-mails :)

Keep up the good work! :)

I was able to add photos to my posts, but I can't figure out how put them on the pages.

Here's a video for you Diana

Thank You!

Upon watching the video, I find that I already know how to ad a picture to my posts. It's just when I am at the "Dashboard," there's a big blue button for "Customize." That take me to the home page of my website. It seems that the pictures that I put in my posts don't show up on the home page, just when I click the posts do I see the pictures. On the home page under "Customize," there are blank places for pictures, but I don't see how to put them in.

That's a totally different question. Ask a new question about how to place a header and mention the name of the theme you're using.

OK. I do know how to place a picture for my header. The pictures in my posts don't show on the homepage; Only on the pages of my posts. Otherwise, mostly, I just don't see how to do it. The theme is "Republic."

Get away from that 'customize' box!
Go find your page, click on edit and (I copy and paste my copy from my word processor in the edit page, complete with my pictures, into it.

You need to set a featured image for each post

Turns out I needed to set a "Featured Image" in each post in order for it to show up on my homepage. Didn't realize that it was necessary if I only had one image in my post. Apparently it is no matter what the number of images you use or don't use.
Thank you
