Being an Amazon Affiliate is a Privilege

Wow, after Greg (aka Seahawk8058) posted about the new Amazon toy on Sunday past, I just had to go take a look at what he was referring to. Impressed I was, so I quickly signed into my Amazon Associate account and started hunting down this new toy.

Man! If I were younger this “baby” would HAVE to be mine.

And ... Greg wasn’t kidding either ... this toy is ... WOW ... so much cheaper on Amazon. Huh!

But then I get thinking ... well, yeah ... of course it’s cheaper. How many times has it been now that I have personally made a purchase from Amazon for this exact reason, LOL ... that AND they deliver right to my door. I love being spoiled ...

Anyway ... back to the reason I wrote this post.

Once inside my Amazon Associate account, and discovering the listing for this new toy, I got my special code to paste onto my website. I signed into my personal blog and voila! I shared it in a sidebar widget ... but ... when I checked it out by previewing my website ... but ... huh? It didn’t display at all ... only the widget title.

Okay .... so, my next step was to see if the theme I recently changed over to using might be the cause of this issue. Off to try posting the exact same iframe code onto a post, poof!

But ... when I previewed THAT post ... nothing ... notta’ ... huh?

That’s when I decided to look at a previously published post where I had placed my very first Amazon ad following Kyle’s instructions in the Certificate Training ... Oooh NO! It too was no longer appearing on the post.

After reading so many complaints shared here about being an Amazon affiliate, I began thinking the worse ... uh-oooh ... did my Amazon Associate affiliate account get disqualified?

Darn! It’s Sunday and I cannot call the 800 number displayed under Contact Associates Customer Service; my cry for help had to wait until Monday.

Come Monday near lunchtime, I contacted Amazon praying this would be resolved quickly ... and, it was ... kinda’ sorta’. Thankfully, my affiliate account did NOT get disqualified.

Pheeeeew ... that was a relief.

In fact, the techie support person from Amazon was on the telephone with me for several hours trying to discover a resolve. Some of it was because of my site’s cache plugin so it has been deactivated for now.

Between the two of us, we did learn that the BIG issue is a browser issue with the Firefox browser desktop viewing and that the techies at Amazon (who create the scripts for us affiliates to use) was put onto trouble-shooting this issue as soon as she clicked on “Send” with ALL details to help THEM track down other aspects and come up with a resolve. They are to contact me when they do.

Side Note: Needless to say ... most of yesterday's time on the computer was spent trouble-shooting

The techie I spoke with at Amazon was soooo patient with me ... so helpful ... so knowledgeable that she sincerely impressed me.

If there’s only one thing I took away from this experience, it’s this ... I will NEVER EVER believe bad things about being an Amazon affiliate EVER again!

WOW! The service I received from their techie was way more helpful than I ever dreamed possible to receive. Understand, it’s not like I was an unhappy customer ... I’m an unproven commodity, plain and simple.

So ... Thank YOU Greg (aka Seahawk8058) and Thank YOU Amazon.com!

UPDATE: for Amazon affiliates that reading this, you need to read Marcus' post Affiliate Disclosure: a Simple Solution to find a REALLY cool, easy to use MUST HAVE plugin for Amazon links so your site will comply with their rules!

Glad everything worked out for you Trish:)

Thank YOU Brad!

Greg's product was interesting. It will be interesting to see holong these drones are popular in the marketplace!

Sure is an interesting toy Michael. Let's hope we all get to share in the profits of these being sold. :-))

My grandson Got a standard quad drone last Christmas. It lasted about 2 months and was discarded for poor battery life and fragile design. I hope Greg's animal is better They may need to be ruggedized more to endure in the market place!

Then again ... maybe this one will out last all others. That's my hope.

i liked Gregs post too.

Thanks Mike.
