A Rose by Any Other Name . . .
When I first signed up for a membership here at Wealthy Affiliate, I kinda’ sorta’ felt awkward at disclosing my real name.
After about a week, I realized that being here ... well ... I have NOTHING to fear ... and so, I decided to edit my profile. I went to my profile image in the header, clicked on it, using the drop down menu, selected Account Settings ... and clicked it.
Once I arrived at the next web page, I scrolled down to Account Setup Progress: Completed Tasks and clicked on ... Add a Profile "About Me" description link ...
added my REAL name where it would be easily spotted ... a name I want others to use when referring to, or addressing me ...
and then I clicked on the Save button.
Now, should another member truly want to know my name, I’ve made it EASY to find.
So many times I’ve gone to a (new to me) member’s profile here at WA, in order to discover their name so that I can be polite and address (and get to know) the person by their REAL name ... but when I get there...
I check below that member’s profile image to see if there are any websites listed. If there is, I wander over to EACH one (sometimes there have been 3 to 4 sites to check) until I find an About page offering this member’s name.
Well don’t ya’ know ... some of THOSE member’s affiliate sites either have NO About page ... OR WORSE ... they talk about themselves but NEVER offer a name... leaving me in a quandary ...
So ... be a good sport and add at least your first name ... or ... the name you actually go by once you're 'comfy' here ... so we can be polite, and address you by your name and not your “handle” ... won’t you?

I agree with you Trish but some people are very shy and still checking out whether WA is legit. I put my name at the beginning of my profile the same as you because I also want to know some people's names. Some will reveal them later. Good post, Trish
You are absolutely correct Trish,
When you are corresponding back and forth with fellow members, you want to make the conversation personal but as you previously stated most use a screen name which is fine elsewhere, but here in the WA Community it's kind of not being very friendly.
I understand why some may want a handle but I strongly feel that one's name should be somewhere in their profile,in their blog or on their website.
