A quick pointer for easier reading of blogs or webpages

If the writing is too small for you to read, especially on a specific page, just hold down the CTRL key and press + key, once, twice or as much as you need. Sometimes I just need to read a detail that is not written in large enough print for my old eyes!

To go back to original size just use the - symbol instead of the +

Thanks Tria and cool city for all these tips. I always ask my daughter how to use those control keys, as she has learned all of these at school. lol.

Thank goodness for children, or we would still be having to go back to school!

Yep, good one Terea, I use it all the time.

Don't forget these, especially useful for copying and pasting links:

Ctrl+A - Select All
Ctrl+C - Copy
Ctrl+V - Paste
Ctrl+X - Cut

Also, these work in Firefox, not sure about other browsers:
Ctrl+T - New Tab
Ctrl+W - Close Tab
Ctrl + I or Ctrl+B - opens Bookmarks sidebar
Ctrl+O - Open File
Ctrl+S - Save (as)
Ctrl+D - Bookmarks Page
Ctrl+F - Opens "Find in page" search bar
Ctrl+1, Ctrl+2, Ctrl+3 etc.- goes to that tab, e.g Ctrl+3 jumps to the third tab.

Thanks for the additions Gary, I use many of them also, but being a granny, seems I use the CTRL + the most.. You youngsters use them for convenience, we oldies out of necessity!

Very true!

Thanks for this neat little tip.

Welcome! There are so many more, for convenience, as Gary listed. I do use some of them but CTRL + I find a necessity at times!

thank you for this tiny but important stuff, Tria and if you used Windows8 you can easily put the 'Magnifier' on :-D

A portable magnifier is a must have in your purse for those fine prints on documents. It looks like prints appear smaller than they really are these days.

Ade

@Gusti Yes, it is true, I am still back in the W7 era running Chrome!

@ Ade Have you noticed?

Useful tip, Terea! Got to help the eyes.

Ade

Age catches up with all of us, but sometimes it is just the computer screen or print size that gets the best of us!

Just for a second, I thought your first word "Age" was "Ade". My eyes are playing tricks on me as they've been doing lately....hmm

he.he.he.. that's funny Ade..

That's a good hint, Tria - I'll certainly look into it...
:) G!

Sure does Katie, I have used it several times in place of reading glasses and squinting my eyes until I got a headache!

I am sure it will Trialynn. Thank you.

Great tip Terea - I'm normally found fumbling around the menus and icons on different browsers, looking for this at times - and it was there in a keypress all along!!

Cheers, Mark
