Creating Success through Accountability

Howdy to all my fellow WAers!

I've been here several months and I love what I see here! The content is awesome and the community friendly and super helpful :-)

However, life has a way of demanding our attention and truth be told, WA has not been my focus. That's not changing any time soon, but it has come to my attention that nothing really gets accomplished without a goal and a solid plan leading to that goal.

So, I have decided that rather than spontaneously sit down to work for several hours at random intervals and hope that somehow the money will decide to turn in my direction, I will take it slow and steady. I'm working on a year long plan that will help me create the success I'm looking for.

To that effect, I have decided to create a support group here within WA for those of you who would like to be able to do what you want, when you want, but with other likeminded people holding you accountable to the goals you set for yourself.

Each and every written goal should be SMARTly formatted and as a group, we will not only hold each other accountable, but be here as a pack of personal cheerleaders - to encourage you, cheer you on, as well as a shoulder to lean on when things aren't as easy as we seem to think they should be. And best of all, we'll all be here to give you a huge shout out when you cross that finish line - and then extend it once again.

So, who's on board with me?

Do you have your group formed? Can I join if so? I am in one other group that is somewhat similar.

My first thought as I read this was - I thought that's what wealthy affiliate was about in the first place; or at least one of its purposes - but then it occurred to me that it would be nicer to have smaller groups like you are suggesting to keep each other going.

But what kind of goals would be appropriate? I know I have a few that I have been slowly rearranging to suit what I can actually do currently they are:

- spend more time here on WA, try to take in a training a week and comment like this more often.

- connect with others also interested in travel, gardens, nature, photography and history especially those who blog and work out a fair blog roll exchange with them

- use my days off (as random as they are) to gather pictures and information for my blog posts.

- post at least two written posts every week in my blog

- comment on at least two similar blogs each week

- post a photo of the day on my blog, even on days I do not write a post

- look into tumbler and Pinterest as ways to promote my blog

- figure out how many real posts I should have before I start to monetize my blog

- come up with more realistic goals

Not sure. Is that the kind of thing you are thinking of? I know many of them aren't money oriented but it is my hope that will come on its own if I do everything else right.

Hi RebeccaAnne,
I sincerely apologize that it's taken me nearly 2 weeks to respond. I'm actually in camp in Russia, running an English program as part of our Jewish outreach program and we don't have internet in the camp. I do get internet access a couple times a week when I get out to the hotel down the road...
That being said as much as I planned to be getting some work done while away, looks like that's not really going to happen... I really do want this group to take off, but it'll have to wait til I'm done with camp - about 2 weeks, G-d willing...
I'd love to have you on board!
We'll be in touch...

Sounds like a great plan for most people, but I don't know if it will work for me, I'm not real good at being held accountable, and sometimes it backfires. Like when I tried to quit smoking, the second I decided to have a cigarette, my friend would take my cigarettes, to "help" me, but all it did was make me mad, and make me want one more, some things I just have to do on my own. I love the support and encouragement I get here, but if I want to take a break for a week or two or three, then that's what I'll be doing, and don't want to get anyone upset when I do, or feel like I HAVE to keep going.

I finally did quit smoking one day, on my own, well actually it was truly a God thing, but I won't go into that, but it's something I couldn't do on my own, with or without anyone else's help, and I figure this is kind of the same. I have barely got my website up, and not without a stuggle, so I took a very long break. So now I'm ready to face the dragon again, and hopefully it will go smoother. I've been saying all along, baby steps, but lately I haven't even taken those, but I'm back on it, or will be soon.

Anyway, I think it's a really good idea, and something most people need, I probably do too, but I'm retired now, so am trying some different things, and see how I want to spend the rest of my days. I do love it here though, and believe if I worked at it, I could make money, but my main focus these days isn't the money, it's whether I enjoy what I'm doing, no matter what that is. The people here are really great, so I'll just keep taking one step at a time, as I feel like it, and hopefully get a working website someday, and something I enjoy doing. I've kind of set a goal though, to at least get through this training, so that's what I'll do, one way or another. Good luck with this idea though, as I'm sure it will benefit most, and will keep you all motivated, and can get help, and bounce ideas off each other, etc. Yeah, it's a real good idea, so I'd pursue that.

I am! I'm probably going to need about two weeks to come up with some sort of plan...but when I have it, I'll post it.

Awesome Taylor!
REally excited to have you on board :-)
Going to give this a couple days and then will let group know the 'official rules' ie. guidelines for the group in order to ensure the best possible way that we can all follow through and achieve our goals.
