OK - I really meant 60 days, not 60 seconds! But now I have your attention...

I joined Wealthy Affiliate in May, 2015. Less than 5 months later, I have reached the Top 50 and my goal is to be an Ambassador before Christmas. (Actually - my rank has slipped in the last couple of days because I haven't been putting my own advice into practice, but it won't take me long to get back up there!)

I know there are many who have achieved this milestone faster and I salute them!

Admittedly, in the early stages, it's pretty easy to get your rank up (number down) and you can rapidly find yourself under 1000.

This training is just a few simple tips to help you to improve your ranking. Just so's you understand the system, the lower your rank number, the higher your rank. So if you are rank number 425,346 - that means you have just joined - it doesn't mean you are awesome :-) Actually, you are awesome, but you have a bit of work to do!

Hopefully, this will help. (There's no charge either)

P.S. For those of you who don't have kids under 12 - that's from Kung Fu Panda

Thank you for this. Although there is nothing "rocket sciency" (is that even a word?) about it, I thin it really helps to see it all set out so clearly and so easily to understand.

I didn't know that logging into your website everyday makes such a difference. I will definitely start doing that. I haven't been that concerned with ranking, but I figured that I should see it improving and it would be good to know how to help others improve their rank as well, especially if I am getting value from their content on WA.

Hi Ada
Thanks - what you must always focus on first is your website/s. If you are doing that, plus spending some time interacting with the community - asking questions, getting feedback etc - your rank will go up by itself.

What does it mean when you said, "how well you are doing"? Does this mean your commission? People following you...?
Reply
Labman Premium
In this article she's discussing rank within wealthy affiliate. So the how well you are doing would be with your ranking inside WA..
Often it's better to concentrate on your own website that it is to concentrate on ranking inside WA. Interact with WA as you need to ask questions and get information that is causing trouble. Don't dwell on your ranking.

Hello alm104
I guess I didn't make it clear what I meant. The Wealthy Affiliate 'ranking' is nothing to do with how well you are doing financially from the website/s you create using this platform. If you read the rest of the training, you will see that I explain it's a complex algorithm which takes into consideration EVERYTHING you do HERE at Wealthy Affiliate.
For example, if you were to use the Wealthy Affiliate training to create an excellent website which got a lot of traffic and made you heaps of money, BUT didn't do anything else - no interaction with other members, didn't create any blogs, any training, never liked any comments, never gained any followers - then you would still be doing very well financially, but you may have a low rank number at Wealthy Affiliate.
Conversely, if you spent all your time just liking things, gaining followers, writing blogs, doing lots of training, answering people's questions etc, BUT never spent any time on creating a good website, you might have quite a high rank number at Wealthy Affiliate, but not be doing real well financially!
What Labman is saying is correct - you need to do a little bit of everything, but concentrate on the training and your website as your first priority. Get that up and running. While you are doing that, you can also get involved in the community, create training, write blogs, make friends, network - and it will all come together as a good ranking number here.
Labman is an Ambassador, which means he has been doing everything I describe, plus a whole lot more probably, because he is much more experienced! I simply put this training together to help newbies get an idea of what the ranking system was and how you can use it to not only improve your ranking, but to focus on the things that will be beneficial overall.
I hope that explains it a bit better.
Ranking is not everything - but if you use it to your advantage, you can't help improve.
Cheers
Ellie

Hi Ellie. Great training!! But all that was pretty obvious. It is amazing how much of the "obvious" we (I) miss. There were so many points that I had never thought of and now can pick up on. I am sure that there are a few members who would have looked at your training and thought that they knew it all. What a mistake. Well done and keep up the great work. Regards Ken (Photo changing back to me to see what effect it will have).

Hmm - I'm interested - I really am. It's been quite an interesting social experiment for me. The lady who blogged about profile pictures had hundreds more followers than I, even tho' her rank was lower. So I changed my pic and low and behold - my followers skyrocketed! It was kind of weird actually!

"And now - waddling along in the back there - Mrs Ellie from Australia...oh woops...sorry folks...looks like she dropped dead...and only 90 metres from the finish line of the 100 metre women's championship...Oh well - another Wooden spoon for Australia..."
Ha! Now if they had Olympics for, let's say, dunno - what AM I good at? Nothing really, except making people laugh! And there's no prizes for that. Never mind Michele - you and I can enter the Best School Run Mum's competition! :-)

Hi Ellie,

Thanks for this great training! You are really smart in grabbing the members' attention with the words "60 seconds", I came in here with this keywords, lol.

Agree that real person profile picture is important as we feel more comfortable to deal with a real person here. I always visit those members' profiles who leave comments in my profile prior to reply them. I also try my best to reply everyone that leaves me comments to show my appreciation to their kindness. Without realizing, this helps to improve my ranking.

I hope I could reach top 200 by end of the year. I know it is not easy as I'm unable to spare much time here with a full time job that earning for living. But will just do my best.

Thanks again for the tips!

Cheers
Jan

You're welcome Yonah! And I am so sorry - I never did get back to you with some reviews of your sites! I was so interested in the Shabbat candles one. Are you Jewish? I love the Jewish customs - they are so steeped in millenia of history with God. I have been 'away' from WA for a short break - had a lot happening and had to prioritise somewhat.
Glad you were motivated by my training!
All the best to you

Hi Ellie, there's no harm done.
Actually I've started an even more greater passion site for me: torahlovers.siterubix.com ... and no, i'm not Jewish, a Messianic believer from the (other) nations. Follower of Yeshua (Jesus) HaMashiach (the Messiah).
Reply
LED63 Premium
Now I am really interested! What is the difference between a Messianic believer and follower of Yeshua and a Christian? I too, believe in Jesus as the Messiah. Is it just in the names or do you believe differently to a 'mainstream' Christian. I am genuinely interested.
Reply
Yonah Premium
As Messianic believers and "Talmidim" (Listeners of the Word - and following and act ing according to it) we put the words of scriptures (Torah, Psalms, prophets, b'rit Hadasha {NT}) high er than manmade tradition. Since there is no scriptural indication of 'Sunday service' or other so-called christian hollidays, we choose to follow the days and hollidays described in the Holy books (scrolls). We also believe that all man (including woman) are equal. No one is Ranked higher in authority than another.
Reply
LED63 Premium
Hello Yonah - thank you for explaining this. So you do follow the NT teachings as well? You follow 'Yeshua' - Jesus the Messiah. If I understand correctly - you are kind of a 'Gentile Jew' if that makes sense. You know - I don't think there is a great difference after all! We are what would be called 'fundamental' Christians and although we follow the tradition of 'Sunday service' as you call it, we don't subscribe to a belief in other 'traditional' Christian holidays such as Christmas and Easter. We believe in 'meeting' or gathering together (NT - 'forsake not the assembling of yourselves together) each day for prayer, worship and Bible study and we also meet early on Sunday 'Lordsday' for a 'breaking of bread' as mentioned in Acts (and the first day of the week, we being assembled to break bread)
It is interesting however, that the Jewish tradition of 'breaking of bread' was simply a custom that every family followed! I don't honestly believe that the mainstream Christian church 'communion' in any way mirrors the early Christian 'breaking of bread' in remembrance of Jesus' death on the cross.
Thank you for sharing and I look forward to more discussions if you wish.
Regards
Ellie
