Most people on Wealthy Affiliates will have mastered the actual building of their first website and will be starting the fill the site with meaningful content. Tougher than you think, or a piece of cake?

There is no doubt that while a number of members will be happy with the content writing for their website there will always be a majority for whom writing has always been, how shall we say it, one of their "least favourite" tasks.

It's important to remember that your website is your shop window to the world. It's a glimpse into the soul of your business and for most of us it's the first point of contact for a customer or client. Your biggest challenge? Time.

The average web user has the attention span of a goldfish and needs to be grabbed from the very moment your site resolves on their screen. Not only must they be grabbed, but that attention must be maintained until you're confident your message has been read and understood and that the reader is ready to act. Your reader has between three and six seconds to become hooked; fail, and they've hit the back button and moved onto another site.

So what are the main points to look out for, and how do we make sure we've covered all the bases?

Wow, Paul! You are a GREAT writer. You hit all the nails squarely on their flat little heads...so clear! I took copious notes. This really helped me, because I tend to get diarrhea of the mouth,,,Or rather, writing hand! And you are an interesting person to read. And funny, besides...That picture of the dude sneaking a peek at work and all of a sudden being blasted with a tsunami of blaring sound---absolutely PRICELESS! I'm still laughing...Thank you so much for this. Boy, do I have a lot of re-writing to do---!

Terrific; I had forgotten all about how to set up pages. It makes so much sense when you understand why that placement is done--to copy the eye movements of the reader.
A terrifically knowledgeable coach sitting on your left shoulder would fill the bill!

Great article, Paul! Thanks for the lowdown on content. This was very specific and very helpful, and there were several points that I'll be using in the re-write of my current web pages. Thanks a lot!
