In this video are you going to learn about embeds and videos using the Gutenberg editor in WordPress.

If you haven't heard about Gutenberg yet, it's the new WordPress editor that will be released soon, replacing the existing editor.

At this stage the release date has not been announced and it's only available using the Gutenberg plugin.

If you'd like to play with Gutenberg then please create a test website so you don't break your real site.

Please check out the other videos in the series you haven't watched them already.

Hi Marion,

Is there a way to embed images and videos in Gutenberg tables?
I just started a test site in SiteRubix and haven't found a way of doing this yet.
Thanks for the great training, it makes the learning curve much quicker.

We need to be cautious about what we put in tables as they can look different on mobile devices. Having said that, I tried embedding a video and an image in a table and it not only worked but it looks fine on mobile. I did have to switch to "Edit as HTML" to put the code in so it's not so easy for non-coders.

It's at the very bottom of the page just before you get to "You may also like:"

Right-click and select "Inspect" (in Chrome) and you'll be able to see the code.

OK, I see what you did but I'm not good enough in my HTML coding to be able to accomplish it myself.
I'm trying to put a comparison table in my posts for product reviews. Within the table would be stars or other images to indicate ratings. For now, I'll stick to numbers as this is just for practice until Gutenberg is rolled out.
So, for my next question, how do I center the numbers (or text) in table cells? They are always left justified and don't look very good that way.

Thanks,
Ed

Sweet. now I don't have to figure it out for you. I was wondering if an image gallery would be better than a table for what you're trying to accomplish.

still got my head in the sand re gutenberg, but does that mean the old videos you had with embed are going to be replaced with this one once gutenberg is rolled out on all of us?

Not at all Mary. The early announcements about Gutenberg said that it would not be backwards compatible but they've realized that that would not be a good move. All the old stuff will still work exactly as is. The old content will be fine.
