WordPress Dashboard

The WordPress Dashboard is a primary screen that you will see when you log into the administration area of your blog which will display the summary of the website. It is a group of gadgets that give a report and provide an overview of what's occurring with your blog. You can customize your needs by applying some quick links such as writing a quick draft, replying to the latest comment, etc.

Dashboard Menu


The WordPress Dashboard presents a navigation menu that comprises some menu options such as posts, pages, comments, media library, users, appearance, plugins, tools, and settings.

Welcome

It holds the Customize Your Site button which enables customizing your WordPress theme. The center column presents some of the helpful links such as creating a page, creating a blog post, and view the front end of your website. The last column contains links to settings related to comments, widgets, menus, and also a link to the First Steps with WordPress page in the WordPress codex.

Screen Options

The dashboard includes various types that can be shown or hidden on some screens. It includes checkboxes to display or cover screen options and furthermore allows us to customize sections on the admin screen.

Quick Draft

The Quick Draft is a mini post editor that allows writing, saving and publishing a post from the admin dashboard. It covers the title for the draft, some notes about the draft and save it as a Draft.

Activity

The Activity widget includes the latest comments on your blog, recent drafts and published posts. It enables you to approve, disapprove, reply, edit, or delete a comment. It also enables you to remove comments spam.

WordPress News

The WordPress News Widget presents the latest news such as the latest software version, updates, alerts, news regarding the software, etc. from the official WordPress blog.

At a Glance

This part provides a summary of your blog posts, the number of published posts and pages, and the number of comments. When you click on these links, you will be taken to the respective screen. It displays the current version of running WordPress along with the currently running theme on the site.
